Most politicians are interested in staying in power first. Your wellbeing matters to them mainly when it affects votes, public image, protests, or elections. If citizens stop paying attention after campaigns, many politicians focus more on political survival, party loyalty, contracts, and influence than long-term solutions for ordinary people.

A simple way to see it:

* They promise jobs, roads, and better living conditions every election cycle.
* Yet many basic problems remain for years because fixing them completely removes a powerful campaign tool.
* Some only become active when elections are close because public satisfaction becomes politically useful again.

That doesn’t mean every politician is evil or completely unconcerned. Some genuinely serve. But politics often rewards popularity, control, and alliances more than honesty or public sacrifice. So if citizens don’t demand accountability consistently, politicians naturally prioritize what benefits their political career first.
