Nigeria and Cameroon take further steps to join the Côte d’Ivoire – Ghana Cocoa Initiative (CIGCI); an alliance for economic relations on cocoa which aims to improve the incomes and living conditions of cocoa farmers. The two prospective member countries addressed the Steering Committee of the Initiative at a meeting in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.

The Producer Price Review Committee (PPRC) has announced a 21% increase in the producer price of cocoa from GH¢660 per 64kg bag (GH¢10,560 per tonne) to GH¢800 (GH¢12,800.00 per tonne), representing 89.99% of the net FOB value. The new price takes effect from Friday, 7th October 2022.

The management of COCOBOD together with the Chief of Staff at the office of the President, Madam Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, today joined the family of former Executive Director of the Cocoa Research Institute of Ghana (CRIG), Dr Veronica Agathar Martinson, to celebrate her 100th birthday.

Dr Martinson spent 29 years at the research institute and is credited with several research works in the cocoa and coffee industry. She is also the only female to hold the position of Executive Director for CRIG.

A delegation from the Nigerian Federal Government today, paid a visit to Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) to apprise themselves on the joint cocoa pricing mechanism used by Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire for the sale of their cocoa.

The visit is part of steps being taken by Nigeria to join the Côte d’Ivoire-Ghana Cocoa Initiative to create a stronger alliance to advocate for decent incomes for cocoa farmers.

Also present at the meeting was the Executive Secretary of the Côte d’Ivoire-Ghana Cocoa Initiative, Mr Alex Arnaud Assanvo. 🇬🇭
