Public Service Announcement!

The National Identification Authority and Identity Management Systems (IMS), in collaboration with the Ghana Refugee Board and UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, will conduct a nationwide refugee registration exercise from 9th March to 20th March 2025.

The exercise seeks to enhance refugee identification and access to essential services in Ghana. All refugees in designated residential camps are encouraged to participate.

The Hon. Minister of Interior of The Gambia, Abdoulie Sanyang, has been issued a Non-Citizen Ghana Card during his visit to Ghana. The registration was completed at the CalBank PLC Registration Centre, underscoring the functionality of Ghana’s non-citizen identity registration system.

The Non-Citizen Ghana Card

The National Identification Authority (NIA) was established in 2006 to register all Ghanaians and foreign nationals permanently resident in Ghana, and issue them with National Identification Cards, popularly known as the Ghana Card.

THE FOREIGNERS IDENTIFICATION MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (FIMS)

To register all permanently resident foreign nationals, and those who will be in the country for a cumulative period of 90 days or greater, the NIA has developed a separate process to register foreign nationals - this is the Foreigners Identification Management System (FIMS).

The service involves the registration and issuance of Non-Citizen Ghana Cards to eligible candidates at a fee of $120.00 (USD) or its Ghana Cedi (GHS) equivalent. Subsequently, the card is renewed yearly at a fee of $60.00.
