A delegation from Asante Agogo Traditional Area paid a visit to the Hon. Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, at his office in Accra, to formally inform the Ministry of the passing of the Omanhene of Asante Akyim Agogo, Nana Akuako Sarpong, who also served as Minister for the Interior from 1991 to 1992.

A new era in fire service operations has begun as 50 officers passed out as the first batch of retrained Fire Police Officers under the Ghana National Fire Serviceโ€™s Basic Fire Police Course 1-2026.

Addressing the graduates at the Fire Academy and Training School in Accra, Hon. Ebenezer Okletey Terlabi described the event as โ€œa defining momentโ€ and โ€œthe birth of a new chapterโ€ in how Ghana protects its people. The Ghana National Fire Service has received a major boost to its emergency response capacity following the presentation of a Mercedes-Benz fire tender and firefighting equipment at the Accra International Airport.

The Minister for the Interior, on the advice of the National Security Council and by Executive Instrument, has lifted Curfew imposed on Karaga Township and its environs in the Karaga District of the Northern Region with immediate effect following a significant improvement in the security situation in the area.

Government urges Chiefs, Elders, Opinion Leaders, Youth, and people of the area to exercise restraint in the face of the challenges confronting them, as well as to use non-violent means to channel their energies into ensuring peace in the area.

Meanwhile, there is a total ban on all persons in the Karaga Township and its environs from carrying arms, ammunition, or any offensive objects/ weapons and any persons found with any arms or ammunition will be arrested and prosecuted.

Following an attack by unknown assailants on a military patrol team in Binduri, Upper East Region, the Ministry of the Interior has, with immediate effect, restricted the use of motorbikes by all persons in Binduri Township and its environs.

In view of the security situation, the restriction is a necessary measure to maintain law and order, protect lives and properties and support ongoing security operations in the area.

Government urges Chiefs, Elders, Opinion Leaders, the Youth and all residents of Binduri and surrounding communities to exercise restraint and remain calm.
