Ghana National Gas Limited Company (Ghana Gas) hosted members of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Energy for an engagement session and a tour of its Gas Processing Plant (GPP), giving lawmakers firsthand insight into its operations.

The Committee began its activities in the region with a courtesy call on the Western Regional Minister, Hon. Joseph Nelson, to formally inform him of the purpose of their visit.

Chief Executive Officer, Ms. Judith Adjobah Blay, welcomed the delegation and emphasized the importance of collaboration between policymakers and industry players in strengthening Ghana’s energy sector.

She used the opportunity to outline the company’s performance, highlighting ongoing challenges such as tariff constraints, which continue to affect revenue generation and reinvestment capacity.

Ms. Blay also reiterated that the company is primed for even greater output, revealing a notable increase in production over the past year. She attributed this growth to improved plant reliability under the current administration.

“Ghana Gas is ever ready. Since last year, our production has gone up,” Madam Blay stated. “Earlier, we faced more downtime at the plant, but under this administration, things have improved. We have moved from 100 MMSCFD to 120 MMSCFD.”

Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah, commended the company’s performance and assured it of Parliament’s support.

“We have seen that Ghana Gas is on top of its game. They have our full support, and we will work to address the challenges raised,” he said.

The visit highlights Ghana Gas’ continued collaboration with government to secure Ghana’s energy future.

Ghana Gas CEO Engages Prestea Himan Traditional Council

As part of efforts to strengthen relationships with stakeholders in project-affected communities, the Chief Executive Officer of Ghana National Gas Limited Company, Ms. Judith Adjobah Blay, paid a courtesy call on the Prestea Himan Traditional Council.

Ghana Gas has operated a Regulating and Metering Station in Prestea since 2015. It is therefore essential for the company’s leadership to maintain strong and continuous engagement with key stakeholders in this important operational area.

The Chief of Prestea Himan, speaking on behalf of the Traditional Council, expressed appreciation for the CEO’s visit and her proactive approach to engaging with Nananom. He noted that since the company began operations in the area, no previous CEO had visited or engaged the traditional leadership, making Ms. Blay’s visit both historic and commendable.

The Member of Parliament for Prestea Huni-Valley, Hon. Joseph Wisdom Cudjoe, joined the Chief in highlighting key concerns affecting the people of Prestea.

In response, Ms. Judith Adjobah Blay assured the Traditional Council of strengthened collaboration going forward. She announced that approval has been secured for the construction of a new bridge and the rehabilitation of the road linking the community to the company’s operational site.

Additionally, Ghana Gas will construct a new male ward at the Prestea Government Hospital.

Ms. Blay further emphasized that plans are well advanced to create more employment opportunities for local indigenous people within the company.

Ms. Judith Adjobah Blay, Chief Executive Officer of Ghana National Gas Limited Company, has embarked on a strategic tour of manufacturing companies in the Western Region that rely on lean gas for their operations.

Ghana Gas continues to play a vital role in Ghana’s industrial and energy sector by processing and supplying lean gas safely and reliably to support both power generation and industrial production.

Since assuming office a year ago, Ms. Blay has placed strong emphasis on stakeholder engagement, particularly with off-takers in the power and industrial sectors across the Sekondi-Takoradi and Tema enclaves. These efforts are aimed at understanding operational needs and enhancing service delivery.

Following a successful familiarisation tour of off-taker factories in the Tema enclave a few months ago, she has now extended the initiative to the Western Region.

On Tuesday, 21st April, Ms. Blay led a delegation on a tour to gain first-hand insight into the production processes of companies that depend solely on gas supplied by Ghana Gas. The visit also provided an opportunity for meaningful engagements with management teams of key off-taker companies.

The first stop was Jintao Sanitary Ware Company Limited, where the team observed the production of ceramic products such as wash-hand basins and toilet seats.

At Wangkang Ceramics, management highlighted the critical role gas plays in sustaining their operations and appealed for a review of pricing to support their production.

The team also visited Twyford Group, the largest ceramics manufacturing company in Ghana. The Managing Director, Mr. Li Wei, expressed appreciation to Ghana Gas for its consistent support and used the opportunity to request additional gas supply for an upcoming glass manufacturing line, currently under construction and expected to commence full operations in August next year.

The tour reflects Ghana Gas’ commitment to building strong partnership with industry players.
