I had the privilege of leading the Ayawaso North Municipal Assembly in the disbursement of economic empowerment support to 30 Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) within the Municipality.

The initiative forms part of the Assembly’s commitment to promoting inclusive development, creating economic opportunities, and improving the livelihoods of Persons with Disabilities by providing them with the tools and equipment needed to establish or expand their businesses and vocational activities.

The beneficiaries received a range of equipment, including:

• Deep freezers
• Mini fufu processing machines
• Tomato processing machines
• Groundnut milling machines
• Knitting machines
• Industrial sewing machines

I used the opportunity to reaffirm the Assembly’s commitment to ensuring that no one is left behind in our development agenda. Beyond providing immediate support, our objective is to empower beneficiaries to become economically self-reliant, strengthen their businesses, create sustainable sources of income, and contribute meaningfully to the development of our Municipality.

I encouraged all beneficiaries to make the best use of the equipment provided and assured them of the Assembly’s continued support .

Together, we are building an all inclusive community in the Ayawaso North Municipality.

I joined the students of St. Francis Xavier and Kotobabi II JHS to donate some stationery items as we welcomed them back to school following the short break.

I used the opportunity to admonish the students to prioritise their academic work and desist from activities that could derail their education and negatively impact their academic performance. I encouraged them to remain disciplined, focused and committed to achieving their educational goals.

It was also refreshing to see some of the newly constructed facilities aimed at addressing the infrastructure deficit highlighted during our last visit. I commend the Municipal Education Director for the bold steps taken to improve the learning environment and address some of the challenges confronting the students.

I wish all students a successful and productive academic term.

We distributed 2,000 birds to 80 residents across the Ayawaso North Municipality during Phase II of the Nkoko Nkitinkiti distribution exercise, held during a brief ceremony at the forecourt of the Ayawaso North Municipal Assembly.

This brings the total number of birds distributed under the programme to 6,000, benefiting 200 residents since its commencement in May this year.

The initiative forms part of H.E. John Dramani Mahama’s vision to reduce Ghana’s dependence on imported poultry, promote local poultry production, and create sustainable livelihood opportunities for our people.

I used the opportunity to encourage beneficiaries to use the chicks for their intended purpose and resist the temptation to consume them. The ultimate goal is to nurture these birds into sustainable poultry enterprises that can generate income and improve livelihoods.

We remain grateful to His Excellency the President, John Dramani Mahama, for his continued commitment to supporting livelihoods and creating opportunities for all Ghanaians.

As part of activities to mark National Sanitation Day, I led the Minister for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Mahama Ayariga, and the Member of Parliament for the Ayawaso North Constituency and Deputy Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Hon. Yussif Isaka Jajah, on a tour of the Mamobi Drainage Project to inspect the state of sanitation along the stretch as work continues on the project.

The Minister also took time to visit our new office complex, where he expressed his appreciation for our efforts to provide a conducive working environment for our staff and our commitment to ensuring that they have the best possible conditions to thrive and deliver effectively.

Sanitation remains a key priority for our Municipality, and the Minister’s visit is a testament to our collective commitment to keeping our communities safe and healthy for everyone.

We are grateful to all who participated in the exercise and encourage households and residents to actively participate in our collective efforts to maintain a clean and healthy environment.

Upon receiving reports about Mr. Babs Ninche’s inability to continue working due to a faulty sewing machine, we offered to support him with a new machine to enable him to return to work and continue earning a livelihood.

Mr. Babs Ninche is a respected elder in the Municipality who has contributed immensely to the development of our youth by training many young people in tailoring and helping them acquire skills that have made them self-sufficient.

Our outfit remains committed to supporting residents who need assistance as we continue our efforts to improve livelihoods, empower our people, and make our Municipality a better place for all.

I was pleased to join various youth groups across the Ayawaso North Municipality for a Youth Forum held at the Church of Pentecost, Pig Farm.

The forum provided an opportunity to enlighten the youth on various skills training opportunities and how they can harness these skills to create sustainable livelihoods, secure a dignified future, and contribute meaningfully to addressing youth unemployment in our municipality.

We are grateful to the facilitators and all stakeholders for their valuable contributions and commitment as we continue to take practical steps towards tackling youth unemployment and empowering young people across the municipality.

I had the honour of attending the Second General Assembly Meeting of the Ayawaso North Municipal Assembly, which was chaired by the Acting Presiding Member, Hon. Prince Nuhu.

The meeting provided an opportunity for Assembly Members and Heads of Departments to deliberate on key issues affecting the municipality, review ongoing development projects, and adopt strategies to enhance service delivery and promote the sustainable development of Ayawaso North.

I appreciate the outgoing Municipal Coordinating Director for his dedicated service and wish him continued success.
