The General Officer Commanding (GOC) Northern Command, Brigadier General Worlanyo Agbebo has on Wednesday 29 October 2025 handed over a renovated hall to the Northern Regional Veterans Administration Ghana (VAG) in Tamale.

The project was funded by Northern Command to boost veterans’ engagement and welfare.

Brigadier General Agbebo expressed joy at fulfilling his promise to refurbish the facility, describing it as a personal commitment to improving conditions for retired military personnel. He urged VAG to maintain the hall for its long-term benefit and functionality.

The Director of Supplies and Transport (S&T), Colonel Harry Keelson, paid a working visit to the 16 Artillery Brigade in Ho on 28 October 2025 to assess the operations and logistical state of the facility.

During his visit, Colonel Keelson called on the Commanding Officer of the Artillery Training School at Akoefe, Lieutenant Colonel Patrick Aturi, to discuss logistics challenges, supply and chain issues and measures to enhance operational efficiency across all supply and transport detachments.

The Military High Command, led by the Chief of the Defense Staff (CDS), Lieutenant General William Agyapong, has visited the residence of the late former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, to commiserate with the family.

The Chief of Staff at the General Headquarters, Air Vice Marshal Mensah-Larkai, on behalf of the CDS, conveyed the sympathies of the Ghana Armed Forces. He acknowledged her impact on Ghana’s socio-political landscape and assured the family of a befitting burial.

Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, Member of Parliament for Klottey Korley, expressed the family’s gratitude for the visit.

The Ghana Armed Forces has taken steps to protect lands within the area of responsibility of the Naval Training Command (NAVTRAC) following a visit by a delegation from General Headquarters Logistics (GHQ Log) led by outgoing Director of Lands, Colonel Atsu Agbenyega, on Tuesday, 28 October 2025.

Flag Officer Commanding NAVTRAC, Commodore James Adongo Agambire commended the Directorate for its efforts to protect military lands and stressed the continued collaboration to prevent encroachment and safeguard assets.

The Director of Supplies and Transport (S&T), Colonel Harry Keelson, has paid a working visit to the Naval Training Command (NAVTRAC), Nutekpor, on 28 October 2025 to initiate plans for establishing a Supply Depot within the Command.

The project which aligns with the directive to enhance logistical efficiency across the Ghana Armed Forces, would ensure NAVTRAC has direct access to essential supplies, considering its distance from the main depot located in Ho.

During the visit, Colonel Keelson met the Flag Officer Commanding NAVTRAC, Commodore James Adongo Agambire, and toured the proposed depot site. Commodore Agambire expressed gratitude, noting that the initiative would boost operational support and strengthen supply chain responsiveness.

The School of Maritime Operations (SMOPS) at the Naval Training Command, Nutekpor, has organized a Simulator Training Course for Executive Officers to equip them with navigation knowledge and practical simulator experience.

Commander Rasmus Munksgaard of the Royal Danish Navy commended participants for their dedication and emphasized that the simulator-based learning was essential for developing the skills of naval officers to effectively tackle real-world maritime challenges.

Lieutenant Commander Yaw Achiaa Owusu-Danso lauded the professionalism of participants and urged them to apply the knowledge to enhance operational efficiency. He encouraged continuous skill development to strengthen individual performances and contribute to the excellence of the Navy.

Students of the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC) Senior Division Course 47 have paid a 2-day study visit to the Western Naval Command from 23-24 October 2025 as part of the annual Maritime Combat Power Week Exercise.

The Maritime Combat Power Week, a key component of the Senior Division curriculum designed to expose participants to the operational capabilities, strategic functions and institutional history of the Ghana Navy. It also provides an avenue for stakeholder interaction.

Commander Charles Darkwah presented on the history of the Ghana Navy history, roles, and partnerships with organizations like Tullow Ghana and Karpowership. The engagement emphasized inter-service cooperation and civilian collaboration in strengthening maritime security and supporting national development.

Central Command held a graduation ceremony for its inaugural Basic Drill Course at the 4th Infantry Battalion Parade Square on Thursday, 23 October 2025.

The Commander of the Army Training Command, Brigadier General Joshua Amanor, emphasized that drill remains a vital tool for instilling discipline and developing the competence of junior leaders, adding that it has been designed to strengthen the foundation of military professionalism.

Brigadier General Amanor announced plans to decentralize training, with basic and intermediate courses conducted at Command levels from 2026. He urged graduands to uphold discipline, integrity, and professionalism.

Lance Corporal Effah Jemima emerged overall best student.

The Chief of the Defense Staff, Lieutenant General William Agyapong, has paid a 5-day working visit to the 6 Garrison to assess first-hand information about the Units within the Northern Sector.

He received a detailed briefing that covered the operational, administrative, and logistical states of the Units, as well as the challenges, followed by an inspection of ongoing projects and interaction with troops during an all-ranks durbar, where he commended their teamwork, professionalism, and dedication.

The CDS pledged his commitment to support the Garrison by providing the necessary resources to optimize operational effectiveness within the Northern Sector.

The United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) Ghana Battalion (GHANBATT) 13 held a farewell parade on 22 October 2025, at the 5 Infantry Battalion square, Burma Camp, to bid farewell to troops embarking on peacekeeping duties in South Sudan.

The reviewing officer, Brigadier General Joshua Amanor, Commander of Army Training Command, commended the troops for their hard work and successful completion of pre-deployment preparations. He acknowledged their dedication and readiness to serve under the United Nations Mission in South Sudan.

Brigadier General Amanor urged personnel to remain vigilant, disciplined, and professional throughout the mission. He encouraged them to uphold the UNMISS mandate, serve humanity selflessly, and sustain the Ghana Armed Forces’ legacy of excellence and commitment to global peace.

The United Nations (UN) Day has been commemorated with flag raising ceremony at the State House under the theme, “Ghana and the UN: Shared Responsibility for a Better Tomorrow", on Friday 24 October 2025.

The Guest of Honour, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Honourable Okudzeto Ablakwa paid tribute to Ghanaian peacekeepers, commending their bravery, sacrifice and professionalism. He reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to UN ideals, calling for reforms to ensure Africa’s representation on the Security Council.

The UN Resident Coordinator, His Excellency Zia Choudhury praised Ghana’s advocacy for peace, multilateralism, and sustainable development since joining the UN. He urged continued dedication to the principles of human rights, equality and collective progress towards a peaceful and inclusive world.

The Sector West and Ghanaian Battalion 92 (GHANBATT 92) of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) have conducted a two-day joint simulation exercise from 16 to 17 October 2025 to strengthen operational cooperation and enhance interoperability.

The exercise focused on peacekeeping scenarios such as Crowd Riot Control, Denial of Freedom of Movement and Live Firing Exercise. It provided troops with hands-on experience alongside Force Commander’s Reserve (FCR).

The platoons also engaged in friendly soccer and volleyball matches to foster camaraderie and unity after the two-day intensive and successful joint drills.
