Lighthouse Chapel International is one of the largest of the Pentecostal churches that have appeared since the late 1970s in cities in Africa.[2] It has since grown from a church into a denomination in several countries. LCI is a member of the National Association of Charismatic and Christian Churches (NACCC).[3] and the Pentecostal World Fellowship

It the largest of the charismatic churches in Ghana, which have steadily drawn membership away from traditional churches.[4] The word "international" in the church's name reflects the common emphasis on success in charismatic Christian churches in Ghana.[5][6]

Lighthouse Chapel International was founded by Dag Heward-Mills in 1988, [7] a Ghanaian with a Swiss background.[8]
