The Headquarters Northern Command in Tamale has held a Handing/Taking Over Parade to usher in Brigadier General Frank Worlanyo Agbebo as the General Officer Commanding (GOC). The event also saw the commissioning of a mineral water factory, block factory and barbering salon.
Brigadier General Frank Nartey Tei, the outgoing GOC, expressed gratitude to the Military High Command for reposing confidence in him and granting him the honour to lead the Command. He praised the efforts of sister security services in supporting regional stability.
The Guest of Honour, Base Commander Air Force Base Tamale, Air Commodore Adu Gyamfi, commended the outgoing GOC for his exceptional leadership. He noted that despite the brevity of Brigadier General Tei’s tenure, his achievements far outweighed normal expectations.

Board Members of Services Integrity Savings and Loans (SISL), led by Chairperson Madam Gillian Slater, have paid a courtesy call on the Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Lieutenant General William Agyapong, to congratulate him on his appointment and promotion.
As part of the protocols, Madam Slater, introduced the Board Members to the CDS and extended best wishes for his tenure. She also invited him to visit SISL Headquarters for firsthand insight into its operations and discussed plans to engage personnel.
On his part, Lieutenant General Agyapong commended SISL’s role in supporting military personnel and called for increased engagement. He welcomed their plans to expand services and assured the delegation of enhanced collaboration to improve the financial well-being of the Armed Forces.

The Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), Major General Lawrence Kwaku Gbetanu, has paid his first official visit to the Jungle Warfare School (JWS) at Seth Anthony Barracks, Akim Achiase, as part of his familiarisation tour of Ghana Army Units.
During the visit, Commanding Officer (CO) of JWS, Lieutenant Colonel Jacob Cudjoe, briefed COAS on the school’s operations including training, administration, logistical challenges, and development plans. The CO presented a smock and Tiger monument to honour the COAS, an old jungler.
Major General Gbetanu commended the staff for their commitment, teamwork and remarkable infrastructural achievements and assured them of support to address challenges and enhance training. He also advised students to give off their best to enable them build their military career

The 3 Infantry Battalion has held a handing-over and farewell ceremony as Lieutenant Colonel Kofi Akoto Appau handed over command of the unit to Lieutenant Colonel Michael Naah.
Lieutenant Colonel Appau reflected on his tenure with a deep sense of pride and gratitude. He commended troops for their resilience, professionalism and dedication, encouraging them to continue upholding the Unit’s values. He expressed confidence in the leadership of his successor.
The outgoing Commanding Officer thanked all officers, men and women, including Defence Civilian Staff whose support made it possible for him to succeed in his role.

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) Southern Command, Brigadier General Isaac Nicholas Paintsil, has visited the 1 Infantry Battalion (1BN) to assess firsthand information on operations, training and welfare activities. He interacted with troops and called for continued efforts towards national development.
Brigadier General Paintsil emphasised the importance of healthcare and encouraged routine health checkups emphasizing that a healthy mind comes from a healthy body and cautioned against substance abuse and gambling. He urged responsible social media use and care of equipment.
He later visited troops deployed at Somanya for 'Operation Motherland,' a joint mission with the 48 Engineer Regiment and Electricity Company of Ghana at the Akosombo and Kpong transmission stations and Atimpoku.

The United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA) Ghana Battalion (GHANBATT) and Ghana Medical Team (GHANMED) 4 have held a joint farewell parade at the Bale Baz Square in Burma Camp.
The Director-General, Inspectorate General Department at General Headquarters, Brigadier General Augustine Asiedu, who was the Reviewing Officer, urged troops to remain professional, stressing the importance of adhering to the United Nations’ rules of engagement and maintaining the highest standards of conduct.
The Commanding Officers of GHANBATT, Lieutenant Colonel Jacob Nanjo and GHANMED Captain (GN) Kwesi Okumanin Nsaful expressed their readiness to serve with distinction and uphold the reputation of the Ghana Armed Forces.

The 7 Medical Reception Station (7MRS) and the 66 Artillery Regiment have launched the mental health awareness month dubbed Purple Month under the theme "Mental Wellbeing, Your Health Matters" with a 12-kilometer endurance walk at Ho in the Volta Region.
The event featured public awareness creation, examination and education for troops, Defence Civilian Staff and their spouses.
The Commanding Officer of the Regiment, Lieutenant Colonel Jalali Din Ibrahim urged all and sundry to take health issues seriously.
The clinical health psychologist at the 7 MRS, Captain Christian Gyamfi encouraged checking of mental health status at all times.

700 Ghanaian Contingent Personnel serving with the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) have been presented with the esteemed United Nations Peace Medal during a parade at the Battalion Headquarters in Bentiu.
The Force Commander for UNMISS, Lieutenant General Mohan Subramanian, who was the Guest of Honour, expressed deep appreciation to the Ghanaian government and its people for their immense contribution to UN peacekeeping. He commended previous and current battalions for protecting civilians in South Sudan.
He also commended GHANBATT for outstanding coordination in flood mitigation within their Area of Responsibility and praised their Civil-Military Cooperation and humanitarian efforts which have advanced the UN’s goal for facilitating humanitarian aid.

The United States (US) Ambassador to Ghana, Her Excellency Virginia Palmer, has donated 14 Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) on behalf of the US government to the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) at the 153 Armoured Regiment, Abuga Square in Burma Camp.
Her Excellency Palmer, in her remarks, underscored the importance of safeguarding Ghana’s northern border, given the evolving security challenges in the region. She reaffirmed the United States’ commitment to supporting Ghana in enhancing its defence capabilities through sustained partnerships, capacity-building initiatives and the provision of critical resources.
Speaking at the event, the Minister for Defence, Honourable Dr Edward Omane Boamah, uttered profound gratitude to the United States Government and its citizens for their generous support in promoting regional and global peace. He reiterated Ghana’s commitment to maintain the donated vehicles.
