MCE Joins Lapaz Traders for Eid ul-Fitr Clean-Up on N1 Highway

In the spirit of Eid ul-Fitr, a day of gratitude, renewal, and community, the Municipal Chief Executive of Okaikwei North, Hon. Christian Tetteh Badger, joined traders of Lapaz early this morning for a clean-up exercise along the N1 highway.

As the nation observed the public holiday marking the end of Ramadan, the MCE and the traders chose to dedicate the morning to service—clearing debris, sweeping the roadside, and restoring cleanliness to one of the municipality's busiest corridors.

In His Words:
"I am always ready to serve the people with humility. Service is not about titles or holidays—it is about being present and working alongside the very people we are privileged to lead."

This act of collective responsibility reflects the true essence of Eid—community, compassion, and selflessness. It also underscores the ongoing commitment to the Agenda, which places environmental sanitation and citizen engagement at the heart of urban development.

We extend our warmest Eid Mubarak wishes to all Muslim brothers and sisters in Okaikwei North and across Ghana. May this blessed day bring peace, joy, and continued unity.

"Footbridges are for pedestrians, not for trade." — Hon. Christian Tetteh Badger.

The Municipal Chief Executive of Okaikwei North, Hon. Christian Tetteh Badger, today paid an unscheduled visit to the newly contracted footbridge at Lapaz on the N1 highway to assess activities along the critical pedestrian infrastructure.

During the visit, the MCE observed with concern the presence of traders, hawkers, and beggars operating on, under, and around the footbridge. He took the opportunity to educate them on the relevant legal provisions, stating clearly that:
✅ Trading, hawking, and begging on footbridges is illegal in Ghana.
✅ Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) have laws that prohibit the obstruction of public pathways.
✅ Such activities endanger lives, obstruct pedestrian flow, and compromise the integrity of public infrastructure.

The Directive:
The MCE issued a three (3) day ultimatum for all illegal occupants to vacate the premises. After this period, the Municipal Assembly will step in to clear the area completely.

"This footbridge belongs to pedestrians—not traders. We will not compromise on public safety," the Hon. MCE emphasized.

This decisive action is part of the broader Agenda, aimed at restoring order, decongesting public spaces, and enforcing assembly bylaws across the municipality.

We urge all affected persons to comply within the three-day window. Let's work together for a safer, cleaner, and more organized Okaikwei North!

MCE Joins Lapaz Traders for Early Morning Clean-Up Along N1 Motorway

In a powerful display of community leadership and civic responsibility, the Municipal Chief Executive of Okaikwei North, Hon. Christian Tetteh Badger, joined traders and residents of Lapaz early this morning for a clean-up exercise along the N1 Motorway.

The exercise, which began at Darkuman Junction and stretched all the way to the main Lapaz traffic light, saw the MCE working side by side with market women, youth, and local vendors to rid the bustling commercial hub of filth and debris.

Notably, this initiative took place even as the Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) commenced a strike action from yesterday. Undeterred, the Honourable MCE seized the opportunity to lead by example, demonstrating that the responsibility of keeping our city clean rests with all of us—leaders and citizens alike.

This hands-on engagement reaffirms the Assembly's commitment to the Agenda, promoting environmental sanitation and community mobilization at all times.

We salute the traders and volunteers who turned out in their numbers to make Lapaz cleaner and healthier!
