NADMO Asikuma Odoben Brakwa would like to sincerely thank everyone who supported and took part in the successful Capacity Building and Inauguration of the Disaster Volunteer Groups (DVGs) in the district.

We are very grateful to Nana Afful Nyankoe II, Krontihene of the Breman Traditional Council and Chairman for the programme, for his strong leadership, support and wise words. His presence encouraged the volunteers and showed the importance of working together to prevent and manage disasters.

We also thank Hon. Kofi Ampomah (Presidential Staffer). Hon. Mubarak Watara (Constituency Chairman for Asikuma Odoben Brakwa) Mr. Frederick Amissah (Advisor to the Finance Minister) Kofi Paul, Yaw Asamoah Buckman (Procurement Director, YEA) Mr. Patrick Abekah, Ing. Boakye Dankwah, Mr. Seth Ayesu, Amina Akuah Boahemaa, Mr. Ticofred Asouakoh, Mr. Kwesi Sam, Ms. Rachael Arhin and Helena Opoku for being present and supporting the programme.

We appreciate all stakeholders, traditional leaders, assembly members, security services, facilitators, media and everyone who helped in one way or another. Even those whose efforts were not mentioned directly are deeply appreciated.

The inauguration of the 40-member DVG team is an important step in helping communities prepare better for disasters. It will help strengthen early warning, emergency response and public education at the community level.

NADMO remains committed to working with all partners to build safer and stronger communities.

A special appreciation to the District Chief Executive for Asikuma Odoben Brakwa District and Chairperson of the District Disaster Management Committee, Olivia Bentil, for her strong leadership, commitment, and support throughout the Disaster Volunteer Groups (DVGs) training and inauguration.

Her dedication to teamwork, proper planning, and community safety continues to support NADMO’s work in strengthening disaster preparedness and emergency response in the district. Through her leadership and support, more efforts are being made to protect lives, property, and livelihoods within our communities.

The support from the District Assembly and stakeholders also shows the importance of working together to build safer and more resilient communities.

NADMO AOB remains committed to partnering with all stakeholders and volunteers to improve disaster risk reduction, community awareness, and emergency response across the district.

Alhaji Alhassan Kobina Ghansah, Member of Parliament for Asikuma Odoben Brakwa at the Capacity Building and Inauguration Ceremony of the Disaster Volunteer Groups (DVGs). His presence and support demonstrated a strong commitment to community welfare, disaster preparedness and public safety within the district.

NADMO recognizes the importance of collaboration between government leadership, institutions and community stakeholders in strengthening local disaster risk reduction systems. The newly inaugurated Disaster Volunteer Groups (DVGs) of Asikuma Odoben Brakwa are now positioned as frontline responders, ready to support their communities through early warning, risk education, emergency response, and community engagement. The training and inauguration of the forty (40)-member DVG team marks a significant step in NADMO AOB’s commitment to decentralizing emergency response and strengthening proactive, community-led disaster preparedness and resilience across the district.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the Director-General of NADMO, the Deputy Director-Generals and the Central Regional Leadership for their continuous support and guidance towards this important national initiative.

With this successful inauguration, eleven (11) out of the twenty-four (24) MMDAs in the Central Region have now activated their DVGs. Together, we move steadily towards a safer and more resilient region through effective Disaster Risk Reduction.

The National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), Asikuma Odoben Brakwa, successfully held a Capacity Building Program for Disaster Volunteer Groups (DVGs) as part of efforts to strengthen community preparedness and emergency response.

The training equipped volunteers with practical knowledge and skills in disaster prevention, response and management to enhance their readiness in supporting communities during emergencies and disaster situations.

The program also provided an opportunity for stakeholders, facilitators, distinguished guests and volunteers to share experiences and deepen collaboration towards building safer, resilient and disaster-ready communities.
