WEEKLY ACTIVITIES OF THE MCE, NZEMA EAST MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY
In the quest to get to the very base of the Municipality and champion the developmental growth of the Municipality and the Constituency at large, the Hon.MCE embarked on some routines with the week.
PROJECT ASSESSMENT AND INSPECTION
a.The Hon MCE, Eric Essien on Friday in the Company of the Parliamentary Candidate for Evalue Ajomoro Gwira, *Hon Catherine Abelema Afeku*, the Coordinating Director of the Assembly and other Heads of Department received a delegation from the Ministry of Works and Housing which was led by the Hon. Minister of the ministry, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah and the Chief Director of the Ministry to pay a courtesy call on the Omanhene of Lower Axim Traditional Council, AWULAE Dr. Attibrukusu III.
The visit was to give a the minister the clear happenings along the coast where the second phase of the Sea Defense wall would be constructed.
The Hon. Minister urged that the works would be considered and soon as possible to prevent future destruction along the coast .
b.Hon. Eric Essien visited the Classroom block at Sentum which initiated under the Former MCE, Hon. Frank Okpeyen and to see the progress of work and urged the contractor to work within schedule to see the completion on time and hand over to the community for use since the old one is in a bad shape.
DONATIONS
Hon. Eric Essien MCE donated 12 Set of toilet seat and sinks to the good people of Gwiraman Senior High School. This was to redeem a pledge he made to the teachers and student when he visited the school the some weeks back.
The items were received by the Headmistress in the presence of some students and teachers. The Headmistress used the opportunity to thank the Hon. MCE for his swift response which will go a long way to solve defecation problems for student and teachers as well in the school.

Yesterday I welcomed the Mp and Minister for Works and Housing, Hon Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, the Chief Director and some technocrats from his ministry to inspect the Phase II of the Axim Coastal Prevention Project ( Sea Defense) which was started under the first term of the Akuffo Addo-Bawumia government whilst I was then the Member of Parliament for the Constituency.
The Hon. Minister upon assessing made an assurance to the Omanhene, Dr. Awulae Attibrukusu III that his outfit will ensure that government finishes the 8 allocated Sea Defense Projects which were started to bring an end the destruction of lands and properties due to the increase in waves and other climate conditions.
The Omanhene of Lower Axim Traditional Council, AWULAE Dr. Attibrukusu III thanked the government for delivering on the promise of fixing the menace of high waves which engulfed Axim some years back and now has been a thing of the past. Awulae urged the Hon. Minister to see to the completion to prevent unwanted loss of properties and lives
In attendance with me were our hardworking and result oriented MCE, Hon. Eric Essien, Head of department of Nzema East Municipal Assembly, the Former MCE, Hon. Frank Okpeyen, Constituency Executives and party faithfuls.
Breaking the 8 is a must and reclaim our seat to see the growth of Evalue Ajomoro Gwira is gradually on course.

WEEKLY ACTIVITIES OF THE MCE, NZEMA EAST MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY.
The Municipal Chief Executive of NZEMA East Municipal Assembly, Hon. Eric Essien within the week embarked on various activities within the Municipality to foster the cordially relations between his office and the community which make up the Municipal. He held various stakeholders and community engagement to get first hand information of the plight the people.
HOSTING OF THE 67th INDEPENDENCE ANNIVERSARY PARADE IN AXIM.
Hon. Eric Essien on the 6th of March,2024 held his first National Assignment which saw 27 schools comprising of Schools from the Basic and Senior High levels parading in the Municipal Capital to observe the 67th Independence Parade of the Republic. He used such occasion to encourage all other stakeholders to help build an inclusive assembly where the development of the Municipal will be the hallmark. Presentation of Awards to various Excelling students in the 2023 BECE were also done.
TOURING OF SELECTED COMMUNITIES IN THE MUNICIPALITY.*
The Hon. MCE, embarked on a community visitation in some communities where he engaged stakeholders ( Chiefs and other community leaders) on how assignment and other projects can be completed in the shortest possible time to boost the chances of development in the community.
Communities visited include ; Brawire, Tumentu, Bokro, Gwira Eshiem and Bamiakor.
PROJECT INITIATIONS AND SOD CUTTING
a. Hon. Eric Essien on Tuesday, 6th March, 2024 , cut the sod for the commencement of dredging and reconstruction of drainage systems within the BOLAZO ELECTORAL AREA. The activities saw Head of Department from the Municipal Assembly, the Presiding Member Hon. Emmanuel Ndah KWOFIE, the Assembly Man of the Area and other community leaders.
b. A team of engineers visited communities within the Municipality to conduct inspection and repairs of Boreholes which are non functioning and see to it how portable drinking water can get to every aspect of the Municipality.
Areas which saw their Boreholes fixed include;
New Abelebo
Attakrom
Bokro
Bamiakor where he made a promise to see to the tiling of the pipe area and set to the securing of ECG Meter for constant supply.
c. The inspection of the Brawire Chip compound which has stalled for sometime. The Hon. MCE made it known to the Chiefs and leaders of Brawire community that necessary plans are far ahead to raise funds to see to the completion of the Chip compound to help bring relief to the people and also Himself and the Parliamentary Candidate, Hon. Catherine Afeku are putting measures in place to see works on the Brawire road attended to immediately.
d. DONATIONS AND OPERATIONALIZATION OF TELECOMMUNICATIONS NETWORK.
i. The Hon. MCE after a fruitful engagement with the Tumentu Community Saw the need to help them renovate the Teachers Quarter for teachers, after estimation, the Hon. MCE promised to donate 150 Bags of cement to support Tumentu Teachersy Building Projects.
ii. COMMISSIONING OF RURAL TELECOMMUNICATIONS NETWORK.
Hon. Eric Essien made it know to Awulae Angama Tuagyan that, in the next week ahead, the Minister for Communication, Hon Ursal Owusu, the Parliamentary Canditate, Hon Catherine Afeku and Himself with engineers from GIFEC will commission the Network across Gwira and Ajomoro.
Areas include;
Tumentu, Kakusuazo ,Bokro and Asonti Respectively.
ii. ASSESSMENT OF BAMIAKOR BASIC SCHOOL BUILDING.
The Hon. MCE after holding meetings with the Paramount Chief of Gwira Traditional Council, AWULAE Angama Tuagyane,saw the need to attach urgency to the School building, he then tasked the AssemblyMan of the Area to attach all seriousness and get an estimate to cater for all cost of repairs to the school building.

Awulae Angama Tuagyan showed sincere gratitude to the Hon. MCE for the effort he has shown towards the development of Nzema East and encourage him to carry on and not relent in his works.

HON. ERIC ESSIEN MCE PAYS PRODUCTIVE VISIT TO BRAWIRE ELECTORAL AREA

During his visit, Hon. Eric Essien had a dynamic interaction with Nana Adusei, the acting president of Upper Axim Traditional Council, and the Assemblyman for the Brawire Electoral Area. Three-Day Community Engagement with Chiefs and People of Gwira by the Municipal Chief Executive of Nzema East Municipality
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Nzema East Municipality Hon. Eric Essien embarked on a comprehensive three-day community engagement with the Chiefs and people of Gwira to address critical issues related to community development and well-being. The engagements focused on key topics including the relocation of the Dominase market to Bamiankor Aiyinase, the construction of an astroturf pitch for Gwiraman Senior High School, the lack of mobile network connectivity, and accessibility to portable water in various communities.
Day 1: RELOCATION OF DOMINASE MARKET AND CONSTRUCTION OF ASTROTURF PITCH.
On the first day, Hon. MCE led discussions on relocating the Dominase market to Bamiankor Aiyinase to enhance market infrastructure and to decongest the current site. The contractor assigned to the project was taken to the new site for an initial assessment, signaling the commencement of the relocation project.
Following this, Hon. MCE visited the earmarked site for the construction of the astroturf pitch for Gwiraman Senior High School through the collaborative efforts of the Parliamentary Candidates, Hon. Catherine Afeku. Discussions were held with school authorities to outline the plans for the pitch construction, emphasizing the importance of sports infrastructure in youth development.
Day 2: MOBILE NETWORK AND COMMUNITY OUTREACH.
On the second day, discussions revolved around the lack of mobile network connectivity in some of Gwira Communities like Kutukrom,Sikaneasem, Ahonkakrom, Bebiani Nsuaem Gyampele and its impact on communication and emergency services. Strategies for improving mobile network coverage were explored, with a focus on collaboration with telecommunication companies and government bodies to address this pressing issue.
The day also involved community outreach to Kutukrom, Sikaneasem, Gwira Bibiani, and Ahonkakrom, where the MCE engaged with residents to understand their challenges, including access to portable water, infrastructure, and socio-economic issues.Hon. MCE urged them to exercise some believe in the government as he in consultation with the Parliamentary Canditate , Hon Catherine Afeku will see to the immediate solution to areas that have are yet to access commucation network.
Day 3: PROBLEM IDENTIFICATION AND COLLABORATIVE SOLUTIONS.
The final day centered on identifying community problems and strategizing solutions in collaboration with local chiefs and residents. The Hon. MCE facilitated discussions to address issues related to water accessibility, infrastructure development, and community empowerment, emphasizing the importance of collective action and partnership in driving sustainable change.
The three-day community engagement with the chiefs and people of Gwira underscored the commitment of the MCE to address pressing community issues comprehensively and collaboratively. The initiatives on market relocation, astroturf pitch construction, mobile network connectivity, and community challenges signal a positive trajectory towards holistic development in Nzema East Municipality.
Moving forward, sustained efforts and partnerships will be crucial in implementing proposed solutions, fostering community development, and enhancing the quality of life for residents in Gwira and surrounding communities.
