Training of Facilitators of Farmer Field Schools on Promotion of Animal Welfare in Poultry according to the New Developed Standards

The Animal Welfare League has supported Veterinary Services to train facilitators of 5 farmer field schools on promotion of animal welfare in Poultry according to the New Developed Standards in Ghana.
The facilitators were taken through what Animal Welfare is , the standards for poultry farms in Ghana and how to train farmers on it from 25th -26th May,2026 in Eastern Region.
The selected schools are from Bono ,Bono East & Western Region.

Inception Meeting on Implementation of Animal Welfare Standards for Poultry Farms in Ghana

The Animal Welfare League (NGO) presented three documents to Veterinary Services on Thursday,21st May,2026 at an Inception meeting on Implementation of animal welfare standards for poultry farms in Ghana .
The three documents which have been published by Ghana Standard Authority (Standards on Animal Welfare Requirements, Inspection on poultry farms based on standards & Standards for Eggs ) were received by Mr. Emmanuel Eshun,Head of General Services on behalf of the Chief Veterinary Officer. In his remarks,he thanked Animal Welfare League for the support in development of the documents as it shows the progress Ghana has made in ensuring Welfare of Animals. He assured of piloting implementation of the standards in the context of Ghana due to the sociocultural background we have. Animal Welfare League were also informed of the need to partner with Shared Africa for development of Animal Welfare Regulation that touches from the production to slaughtering of Animals.
