Even as a former president, officials of the NPP orchestrated an organized barrage of trauma evoking vitriols on president Mahama

Lawyer Atta Akyea called Mahama, a Drunkard

Kennedy Agyapong called Mahama, a Fool

Chairman Wontumi called Mahama, a Ra**st

NPP Communicators never saw a problem with all these insults. They hailed and sang minstrels of these individuals.

But a harmless polysemous phrasing is enough to trigger their hypocritical, high moral tissues?

Julius Kwame Anthony’s words never specifically mention Akuffo Addo. He simply said;…

“Foreign State Department reports have noted that a person who became a president of the republic on the ticket of your party was a drug addict, dealing in these same illicit drugs."

Why should NPP Communicators assume the aforementioned president is Akuffo Addo?

Why not Agyekum Kuffuor?

By this logic, NPP communicators are making us believe that, an ambiguous statement, centered on drugs, best fit Akuffo Addo?

Nevertheless, Akuffo Addo’s childhood mates and close allies have made similar revelations in the past as captured on WikiLeaks

These are documented facts with the diplomatic corps

It is a leaked 2008 US Embassy in Accra, diplomatic cable to Washington and published by WikiLeaks in 2011.

In a meeting with US Embassy officials in 2008, Dr. Kwesi Aning (Director of Research at Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre) was quoted as saying, when asked about rumours of Akufo-Addo's co***ne use: "Akufo-Addo had used drugs in his younger days, but that was now under control." And "you can check with German intelligence on that."

A separate cable from same period quoted journalist Kwesi Pratt Jnr as saying: "Nana used to smoke a lot of ma*****na... a lot. Even in the morning, there used to be a cloud around him and you could see that he was high"

So yes, Julius cited a diplomatic report but never associated it with Akuffo Addo

As to why the NPP Communicators find it prudent to watermark Akuffo Addo’s image on an international drug related report, that is theirs to lose sleep over 🤷🏽‍♂️ 🤷

Apart from maintenance of the digital infrastructure, major part of the proceeds from Traffitech should go into:

- Constructing modern and government owned Trotro Stations across every district in Ghana

- Regular maintenance of Traffic and Street Lights

- Updating road markings

- Er****on of extra and visible Road Signs and standard median designs

Just let the roads be worthy of the monies they are generating.

If drivers see the social impact of these fines, compliance wouldnt be a problem.

Traffitech Gh is commendable but the rollout must be slow and convenient. At its current pace and without the necessary infrastructure in place, it looks more extortive than a compliance tool

Menasseh Azure writes ✍️

I have seen a very educational video by Joseph Kofi Frimpong Ackah-Blay, explaining the Traffitech-GH system that came into effect yesterday. Drivers who exceed a certain speed limit will be fined.

For instance, where there's a school, the speed limit is 30 km/h. He went on to say that not knowing there is a school there is no excuse.

But why should you impose a speed limit when motorists cannot tell where it applies? Are we magicians?

I drove in the US for nearly three years. There, road signs and regulations abound in inter-city areas and on the highways. And because they are clearly marked, the maps on your phone tell you the speed limit, not just directions.

When you're approaching a school, you see visible signs that indicate you're approaching a school and the allowable speed limit. In some cases, when you're leaving the school environment, you are again notified.

Here, we still go by the cliché that ignorance of the law is no excuse. Sometimes it can be. In Accra, the only time you sometimes realise you've driven into a one-way street is when someone shouts, "One-way, kwasia buulu!"

Not all schools have signposts. And motorists are not magicians who can sniff out all the different traffic requirements at different places.

If the aim of Traffitech is to keep our roads safe and not to spring surprises on motorists and make money, the state should help drivers to know where and what regulation applies.

The lanes on our roads should be clearly marked. Speed limits should be clearly indicated. Roads with speed cameras should be labelled, and drivers should be warned. City authorities should reduce commercial, church and funeral billboards that obstruct drivers' vision, sometimes from traffic lights, and replace them with adequate road signs.

The driver has a responsibility, and so does the state. If the state fails, the driver should not be punished for that failure. Maybe a court should be able to tell whether it is fair to expect someone to adhere to a speed limit near a school when you have not told that person about the existence of a school.

The successful apprehension of the co***ne suspect, resulted from a coordinated controlled delivery exercise, carried out through close operational cooperation between Ghanaian and Lebanese drug law enforcement authorities.

Control Delivery Operation is a highly structured investigative tactic where law enforcement agencies between two countries, knowingly allows an illicit or suspect shipment to pass through security in one country to the other, rather than seizing it immediately just to gather enough evidence and arrest the entire regional chain connected to the drugs

In other instance, this is how Interpol bust popular Nigerian fraudster, Hushpappi in Dubai

In 2011, similar Control Delivery exercise was carried out between Morocco and France where an Iveco Van, concealing drugs inside an oil cargo was allowed to pass Moroccan port to Sète in France and to its final unloading location, resulting in 11 arrests across multiple French cities

The official statement from the Lebanese Immigration also suggests that, the suspect was initially flagged when he previously entered their country via the Masnaa Crossing before entering into Ghana, where the NACOC was alerted.

This is brilliant security coordination between Lebanon and Ghana 👏🏽 👏🏽

The previous government under Bawumia, would have alerted the suspect to take a different shipping route to avoid Lebanese tracking 🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️

Ghana has secured a major commitment from Russia to cooperate in the establishment of a 2,000-megawatt nuclear power plant, in what could become one of the country’s most significant energy infrastructure projects.

The agreement follows bilateral discussions between President John Dramani Mahama and his Russian counterpart, President Vladimir Putin, during the Third Russia-Africa Summit held in Moscow.

Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa announced that, Russia has agreed to work with Ghana towards establishing the nuclear power facility to guarantee energy security and support the country’s industrialisation ambitions.

The proposed 2,000MW facility represents a significant development in Ghana’s longstanding pursuit of nuclear energy as an additional source of reliable electricity generation.

The initiative also revives the nuclear energy vision of Ghana’s first President, Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah, who initiated preparatory work towards establishing a nuclear research and power programme in the 1960s. However, the ambition was interrupted following the overthrow of his government in February 1966.

President Mahama had earlier disclosed at the Russia-Africa Summit that Ghana had initiated discussions with Russia’s state-owned nuclear energy corporation, Rosatom, towards establishing the country’s first nuclear power station.

The proposed partnership comes at a time when Ghana is seeking to diversify its energy mix, strengthen electricity generation capacity and provide reliable power for large-scale industrial development.

Nuclear energy offers the potential for continuous electricity generation, making it an attractive option for countries seeking to support energy-intensive industries and reduce dependence on conventional power sources.

The last time an American citizen was kiľľed in Ghana was in 2015 during a robbery at Akwamufie in the Eastern Region

The American government through its consular support, immediately demanded for justice, tracked local police investigations and offered to repatriate the remains of the deceased

The case was heard for two years at the court and the 22yr old suspect, Yaw Anokye Frimpong was eventually sentenced to death by hanging for two counts of murder by the Accra High Court.

This year, 4 Ghanaians have reportedly lost their lives through gun violence in the United States.

- 🕊️ Akpene Tetteh, 37 – A PhD candidate at Virginia Commonwealth University, killed on February 12.

- 🕊️ Lartey “Lai” Solomon, 33 – A Ghanaian registered nurse and health content creator, killed in Oakland on May 31.

- 🕊️ Dr. Kofi Akamani, 48 – A forestry professor at Southern Illinois University, killed on September 19.

- 🕊️ Javits Frimpong, 15 – A young Ghanaian boy who had only recently arrived in America, shot while walking to school in the Bronx on October 29.

- 🕊️ Michael Sakyi Jr, 18 — Fatally shot on June 25, 2026, in Manassas, Virginia. Police discovered him inside a vehicle that had crashed following an upper-body gunshot wound

- 🕊️ George Ennin, 53 — Was killed in a random, unprovoked stabbing in the Bronx, New York, on January 5, 2026, while walking to work

The pattern shows, Americans have been relatively safe in Ghana than Ghanaians are, in America.

The question now is, who will be next?

Without proper reforms on gun laws, incidents like these are endless

Immigration Officer, Stephen Amoah was killed by his bosom friend, Bright Aweh, for borrowing him money.

George Atubiga and his niece, Irene Atubiga were horrendously shot to death for the debt they owed to a friend

The bottom line is: being a Creditor or Debtor is risky and this is why some of us are reluctant in giving out loans to friends or associates

The quickest way to lose a friend in Africa, is to give him a loan. It’s murky!

The experience of recovering debt from a friend is very frustrating. It takes divine restraint to hold against those fatal instincts that dominates your thought at that moment

You can’t involve the police either because it’s not within their jurisdiction.

The only legal option is to use the court, which comes at a huge cost and unbearable inconvenience

Unless you don’t mind losing your cash, stop giving out loans to friends: let them understand that, it’s for the sake of your friendship and your collective peace of mind

There are several small scale credit firms giving out as low as ghc500 loans with no collateral. Tell your friend to go for that loan

Best you can do is to help him pay the interest on the loan, if he pays commits to paying the capital within the stipulated time

Rest in Peace to the deceased 🌺

Major Fuel Importers Prioritise Local Supply as Government Pushes Domestic Petroleum Industry

The Ghana Chamber of Bulk Oil Distributors (CBOD) has disclosed that major fuel importers in the country are prioritising domestic supply over exports, reinforcing Ghana’s commitment to protecting local energy security.

The development is being welcomed as a positive step towards strengthening the domestic petroleum industry, retaining economic value within the country and reducing the potential impact of external supply disruptions.

The Mahama-led government deserves commendation for its commitment to putting Ghana’s economic interests first, while efforts to revitalise the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) are expected to play a critical role in strengthening the country’s local refining capacity.

The leadership of TOR, particularly its Chief Executive Officer, also deserves recognition for efforts towards repositioning the refinery as a strategic national asset.

Industry observers say prioritising local petroleum supply could support domestic economic activity, strengthen energy security and create opportunities for local businesses.

The latest position by CBOD reinforces the importance of building a petroleum sector that serves Ghana’s domestic needs while reducing excessive dependence on external markets.
