Yesterday 20th January 2025. The Urban Agricultural Directorate successfully conducted a field day on micro gardening . The event was funded by the GAFSP project. Among the attendants were the honorable Minister of Agriculture Dr Momodou Sabally , The Director General of the Department of Agriculture Mr Musa Humma, ROOTs project Director ,the Mayoress of KMC, and other important stakeholders together with the farmer representatives.

This is geared towards promoting and showing the importance of micro gardening for urban settlers . Thanks to all the invitees

Harvesting on Rice

‎Congratulations to two (2) of us, as Frontline dedicated staff from urban among the two participants for completing the one-month intensive Training Course on Hybrid Rice Comprehensive Technology in The Gambia! This exceptional training took place from November 7th to December 6th in Jenoi and Sapu respectively and was facilitated by a team of experts from Yuan Long-ping High-Tech Agriculture from China.
‎ We extend our sincere gratitude to the Ministry of Chamber and Commerce of the People's Republic of China and the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Security (MoALFS) for their valuable collaboration in making this opportunity possible and build the capacity of our staff.
‎The importance of hybrid rice technology cannot be overstated, especially in the context of The Gambia's efforts toward achieving food self-sufficiency in rice production and combating Climate Change .

The Urban Agriculture Directorate comprises of two municipalities called Kanifing Municipal Council (KMC) and Banjul City Council (BCC).
The crop’s performance general is really promising and for that we are expecting a bumper harvest.by the grace God.
