This significant gap highlights the urgent need for action as we strive to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG-6) by 2030.

Yesterday, the Water Sanitation Hygiene Unit, with the invaluable support of UNICEF Gambia, officially launched a two-day Climate-Resilient Joint Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) Sector Review Meeting. This significant event aims to consolidate our progress and establish clear strategic priorities for a sustainable, inclusive, and climate-resilient WASH sector in our nation.

Key objectives of the workshop include:

• Integrating recommendations from the Climate Risk Assessment and WASH Bottleneck Analysis into nation development priority
• Ensuring stakeholder accountability
• Fostering collaboration and support among partners

We were honored to have the Vice President of The Gambia, several ministers, permanent secretaries, dignitaries, and technicians in attendance. Together, we are reinforcing our commitment to climate adaptation, public health protection, and equitable access to WASH services for everyone.
