Our General Manager earlier today gave a closing remark at the Project Closing Ceremony of Centre for Migration & Development ZME, The Gambia held at the SDKJCC. In attendance was The Minister of Trade, Regional Integration and Employment, Resident Ambassador, Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in the Gambia, Vice Chancellor USET, Regional Director GIZ Senegal, Gambia, Guinea, Cape Verde among other delegates.
Extending sincere appreciation to the Germany Government for the invaluable support provided through Global Programme “Centres for Migration and Development” (ZME) in The Gambia and its predecessor Programme Migration for Development, PME.
She reiterated that the initiative has been instrumental in supporting partner institutions to strengthen capacities and structures to provide targeted and sustainable support services to migrants and disadvantaged members of the local communities, ensuring services remain inclusive and responsive to those in need.
With support from GIZ, partner institutions came together to reflect on how cooperation at regional level could be strengthened – not only through individual activities, but through a more structured and sustainable approach. It was through this shared reality that the Local Cohesion and Cooperation Approach, or LCCA, began to take shape.
On the sidelines of the exhibition, our officials equally took the delegation through our interventions with the GIZ ZME with NEDI leading in the coordination, entrepreneurship training, business formalization and coaching of the beneficiaries.
The Ceremony concluded with the signing of MOU among partners in their quest for commitment to collaboration, local ownership, and sustained partnership beyond the project itself.
