Council Resolves to Dissolve the Sanyang Village Development Committee
The Council, acting under Section 96 subsection (1) of the provisions of the Local Government Act 2002, has resolved to dissolve the Sanyang Village Development Committee.
The decision was reached during the Council’s General Sitting held on 14 May 2026 following deliberations on the findings of the Council’s WDC/VDC Conflict Resolution Adhoc Committee.
The Committee tabled before Council members its report on a petition submitted by the Sanyang Development Fund against the Sanyang Village Development Committee.
The report highlighted admissions by members of the executive committee regarding the deliberate disregard and isolation of provisions contained in the committee’s own constitution in the conduct of its operations.
Following extensive deliberations, Council members described the actions as gross violations of the constitution governing the committee. Consequently, the Council, through a majority vote, resolved to dissolve the Sanyang Village Development Committee with immediate effect.
The Council reaffirms its commitment to transparency, accountability, constitutional compliance, and good governance in all local governance structures under its jurisdiction.
