On Tuesday and Wednesday ,10th and 11th January respectively, we received our partners from Towson University in Maryland, USA and Catalyst Academy. The visit was to strengthen our cordial ties and give them an insight on some of the projects embarked on and those we are currently on. During the study tour, the students volunteered at the Kafuta Junior and Senior Secondary Library. They participated in sporting games with members of Jarisu Talents. They also visited FarabaSutu Women’s garden, where they participated in an information sharing session with the women Kafoo of the village on how they grow crops, support their families and provide fresh produce for the local market.

Congratulations to Mr Samba Jallow for being selected as a 2022 Heidelberg Laureate fellow. Samba is a member of the Library staff who teaches Maths and Science to students attending the Kafuta Library.
The Heidelberg Laureate Forum brings together the brightest young scientists and Laureates in mathematics and computer science around the world.
Samba’s project is on Evolution of Cryptosystems through Number Theory algorithms.

Earlier this weekend we partnered with Girls Talk Show/Org and distributed bag packs with stationery to underprivileged school going kids and sanitary pads and toiletries to young girls in the community of Kafuta.

Our mentorship talk series continued this afternoon at Faraba Banta Basic Cycle School
During the day career event, mentors engaged students on various topics ranging from- Leadership, Irregular Migration, Peaceful Coexistence, Drug and Substance Abuse, The Environment and Climate Change.
The project also includes setting up career and guidance counselling units in all the schools and these centers will be provided with startup funds to take care of operational costs.

We have partnered with Give1 Project Gambia, Kombo East Youth Committee and West Coast Youth Committee to organize mentorship and career sessions at all the senior schools in Kombo East. The first session was held at Jersey Technical Senior School at Shom Village.
During the day career event, mentors engaged students on various topics ranging from- Leadership, Irregular Migration, Peaceful Coexistence, Drug and Substance Abuse, The Environment and Climate Change.
The project also includes setting up career and guidance counselling units in all the schools and these centers will be provided with startup funds to take care of operational costs.
