The Ministry of Information, Media and Broadcasting Services hosted the outgoing United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Country Representative to The Gambia, H.E. Ndeye Rose Sarr, as she paid a farewell visit following the completion of her diplomatic mission in the country.
The Honourable Minister of Information, Media and Broadcasting Services, Hon. Dr. Ismaila Ceesay, described H.E. Sarr’s tenure as remarkable and widely appreciated, recognising her role in supporting programmes and initiatives that continue to positively impact the lives of Gambians, especially women and young people.
During the engagement, Hon. Dr. Ceesay underscored the value of collaboration between Government institutions and international organisations in advancing national priorities through public education, advocacy, and information sharing. He applauded UNFPA’s contribution to raising awareness on key social issues, including gender equality, reproductive health, youth development, and community wellbeing.
The Minister also recognised H.E. Sarr’s leadership, professionalism, and active engagement throughout her service in The Gambia, noting that her efforts helped deepen cooperation and strengthen working relations between UNFPA and national institutions.
Speaking during the meeting, H.E. Ndeye Rose Sarr expressed appreciation to the Ministry for the support and cooperation extended to UNFPA during her assignment. She praised the Ministry’s role in promoting development-focused communication and public awareness initiatives aimed at educating and informing citizens.
The meeting was attended by the Permanent Secretary, Ms. Cordu Jabang.
The farewell engagement concluded with warm exchanges and best wishes to H.E. Ndeye Rose Sarr as she prepares to take on new responsibilities beyond The Gambia.
