Environmental Health Inspectors
11/03/2026
On our Weekly Limelight Health Updates, we continue to highlight the extra mile our hardworking health workers take to address public health challenges in our communities.
This week’s feature is from a Routine Environmental Health Inspection conducted at Fajikunda Major Health Centre on 6th March 2026. Environmental health inspections are an essential component of public health services, aimed at addressing environmental risk factors such as poor sanitation, improper waste management, and drainage challenges, among others.
For Fajikunda Major Health Centre, this routine public health activity is particularly important, as the facility serves a population of over 300,000 people, making it the most populated health district in Western Region One.
👏 Bravo to the Fajikunda health team for their dedication and commitment. Keep up the great work and momentum in protecting community health!

Happy International Women’s Day
As the world celebrates International Women’s Day, we join millions across the globe in recognizing and celebrating the remarkable efforts, resilience, and contributions of women in every sector of development.
The role of women in shaping a better world cannot be overstated. Women serve as the backbone of families and communities, caring for their homes, leading in the health sector, education, business, agriculture, and many other fields that drive progress and development.
In The Gambia, women remain the backbone of our economy. Their daily dedication and hard work help sustain families, ensure that children remain in school, and provide hope and opportunities for many young people striving for a better future.
Women are peace builders, providers for survival, and managers of our homes and communities. Their strength, compassion, and leadership continue to inspire positive change in society.
On this special day, we celebrate every woman for her courage, sacrifice, and invaluable contributions to humanity.
May Allah continue to bless and protect every woman across the world.
