This morning's ceremony was hosted by ExxonMobil Guyana as part of the Brownfield Projects initiative and is a significant achievement under the Water Injection Riser Depressurization (WIRD) Project. WIRD entails the fabrication of pipe sections for the water injection systems utilized on SBM Offshore Guyanaโs FPSOs and is being executed locally by Guyanese companies, hence, representing a significant advancement in local content development.
Local content has had a tremendous positive impact on the development of Guyana which has benefitted not only the oil and gas sector but all sectors across our country.

Today, as we celebrate World Environment Day 2026, we must honour our abundant forests, rivers and biodiversity by building a greener, more resilient future for generations to come. We aspire to create a life โInspired by Nature. For Climate. For our Futureโ.
As Guyana celebrates 60 years of Independence, the Ministry of Natural Resources reaffirms its commitment to protecting the natural environment that surrounds, sustains and defines us. We all play a critical role in ensuring our forests are preserved as we continue to explore, develop and sustain and make our contribution to environmental conservation.
