Reserve Ecologique Wynne Farm - Wynne Farm Ecological Reserve

It is with profound sorrow that we share that the Wynne Farm Ecological Reserve has once again been attacked by unidentified armed individuals who set fire to our facilities on the night of Oct 11.

For decades, the Reserve has stood as a sanctuary of biodiversity, environmental education, and community connection — welcoming students, researchers, and visitors from all walks of life. Nestled within a vital watershed that provides water to millions in Port-au-Prince, the Wynne Farm is more than a physical space; it is a living symbol of hope, resilience, and care for our planet.

To those who have enabled these acts of destruction — know that our mission transcends the walls you have burned. Our roots run deep in the soil of service, education, and regeneration. We will continue to nurture life, restore what has been lost, and protect the natural heritage that sustains us all.

Dans la nuit du 11 au 12 octobre, des individus armés non-identifiés ont saccagé et incendié nos installations et notre immeuble principal, entraînant la perte d’un lieu précieux consacré à la sensibilisation environnementale aux fermiers, écoliers et universitaires. Nous avons lutté et concentré nos efforts à la valorisation de la biodiversité et de nos ressources naturelles ainsi que celle du développement durable pendant plusieurs décennies. La Wynne Farm représente bien plus qu’un espace d’apprentissage et de sensibilisation. Elle constitue un lieu de réconciliation avec la nature.

Nous remercions tous ceux et toute celles qui nous ont manifestés leur solidarité, et profitons de renouveler notre engagement et responsabilité collective de préserver notre chère planète.

Dear friends of Wynne Farm, this year’s global theme for Earthday is “invest in your planet” .
We must aim to move away from short term profit and pleasure mindsets that deplete our natural resources , and start investing in the long term health of our land, our waters, the biodiversity, our soils, all of which are an investment in ourselves and our children.

This year, unfortunately we at Wynne Farm will not be hosting our annual Earthday event due to many factors that are part of the current reality in Haiti at the moment. However we urge us all to take a personal inventory of our impact on the planet. It is time to hold ourselves accountable for what we do have control over. We are calling upon government authorities, and the civil society to redefine our collective priorities.
