In the middle of the month, a research team studying the African migration and wintering of red-footed falcons will depart from Hungary to Angola, to the species’ African capital: FALCOPOLIS. The team is led by Dr. Péter Palatitz, a researcher from the Hungarian Ornithological and Nature Conservation Society.

“This will be a special year in several respects. On one hand, we will inaugurate the ringing camp built by the FALCOPOLIS Foundation from Hungarian donations. On the other hand, volunteers are now also helping our work—people who dedicate their time and money to participate in conservation research. Without them, this initiative would not be sustainable. In return, they become part of a real African research expedition while gaining lifelong experiences.” – said Dr. Péter Palatitz

After the 1st generation of ICARUS GPS tags we've used on the Red-footed Falcons (here juveniles), last week our partner the Max Planck Institute for Ornithology and its partners (eg. SpaceX) succesfully sent the ICARUS 2 antenna to space.
Huge congartulations!

We are hoping to test the new system with imporved bird tags in March in FALCOPOLIS.

Jön a korábban kék vércséken is sikerrel használt ICARUS jeladók második generációja!
