On 25 May 2026, the Ambassador of Brazil to ASEAN, H.E. Ambassador Henrique Ferraro, visited the headquarters of the ASEAN Humanitarian Assistance of Disaster Management Centre (AHA Centre) in Jakarta and met with Executive Director Lee Yam Ming, accompanied by Brazil’s Defence, Navy, Army and Air Force Attaché, Colonel Vitor Hugo Bergamaschi.

The visit included a presentation of the AHA Centre history, mandate and facilities, such as the Emergency Operations Centre. During the meeting, both sides explored opportunities for potential collaboration in the areas of emergency response and capacity building.

Implemented within the framework of the Brazil-ASEAN Sectoral Dialogue Partnership, this webinar series forms part of the Brazil-ASEAN Initiative on Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment, which also includes capacity building and training activities in Brazil for women working in the fields of agriculture and rural development in ASEAN Member States.

The webinar series will gather government officials, members of cooperatives, and representatives from academia in Brazil and ASEAN Member States to exchange experiences, good practices and policy perspectives on advancing women’s empowerment and gender-responsive cooperative development in the agriculture sector.

On 7 May 2026, the Ambassador of Brazil to ASEAN, H.E. Ambassador Henrique Ferraro, paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Director of ASEAN Institute for Peace and Reconciliation (ASEAN IPR), Mr. I Gusti Agung Wesaka Puja, together with the Brazil Defence, Navy, Army and Air Force Attaché, Colonel Vitor Hugo Bergamaschi.

The meeting provided an opportunity for Brazil to share its interest in strengthening engagement with ASEAN entities, particularly those contributing to regional resilience, including ASEAN-IPR, which serves as a regional knowledge hub for capacity building in conflict resolution and reconciliation. The discussion also explored potential areas of mutual interest and avenues for closer cooperation between Brazil and ASEAN-IPR in the future.

On 23 April 2026, the Ambassador of Brazil to ASEAN, H.E. Henrique Ferraro, participated in the second edition of the seminar “Brazil–Asia-Pacific Cooperation: Priorities and Perspectives”, organized by the Superior Court of Justice (STJ), alongside the Ambassador of Brazil to Indonesia, H.E. George Prata; the Ambassador of Brazil to Japan, H.E. Octávio Henrique Dias Garcia Côrtes; the Ambassador of Indonesia to Brazil, H.E. Andhika Chrisnayudhanto; the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Brazil, H.E. Bolat Nusupov; and the Secretary for Asia and the Pacific at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Ambassador Susan Kleebank. The event was led by the President of the STJ, Justice Herman Benjamin.

During the event, Ambassador Ferraro emphasized that trade between Brazil and ASEAN member states more than ten-folded between 2002 and 2024, with ASEAN becoming Brazil’s fifth-largest trading partner and the fourth main destination of exports. In the political-diplomatic field, he highlighted that, in 2023, Brazil and ASEAN negotiated the document Practical Areas of Cooperation, encompassing 33 thematic areas of mutual interest for cooperation between the parties. Among these, he underscored the fields of good governance, human rights, consumer protection, and the elimination of child labor and other forms of violence against children.

Em 23 de abril de 2026, o Embaixador do Brasil junto à ASEAN, Henrique Ferraro, participou da segunda edição do seminário “Cooperação Brasil–Ásia-Pacífico: Prioridades e Perspectivas”, organizado pelo Superior Tribunal de Justiça (STJ), ao lado do Embaixador do Brasil na Indonésia, George Prata; do Embaixador do Brasil no Japão, Octávio Henrique Dias Garcia Côrtes; do Embaixador da Indonésia no Brasil, Andhika Chrisnayudhanto; do Embaixador do Cazaquistão no Brasil, Bolat Nusupov; e da Secretária para Ásia e Pacífico do Ministério das Relações Exteriores, embaixadora Susan Kleebank. O evento foi conduzido pelo Presidente do STJ, Ministro Herman Benjamin.

No evento, o Embaixador Ferraro destacou que o comércio entre o Brasil e os Estados-membros da ASEAN cresceu mais de dez vezes entre 2002 e 2024, e que a região ocupa, hoje, a quinta posição como principal parceiro comercial do Brasil e a quarta como destino das exportações brasileiras. No campo político-diplomático, ressaltou que, em 2023, o Brasil e a ASEAN negociaram o documento Áreas Práticas de Cooperação, abrangendo 33 áreas temáticas de interesse mútuo para a cooperação entre as partes. Entre estas, destacou os campos da boa governança, dos direitos humanos, da proteção ao consumidor e da eliminação do trabalho infantil e de outras formas de violência contra crianças.

On 28 April 2028, the Ambassador of Brazil to ASEAN, H.E. Ambassador Henrique Ferraro, held a meeting with Permanent Representative of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic to ASEAN, H.E. Sitstangkhom Sisaketh.

During the meeting, both of the Ambassadors discussed practical steps to elevate Brazil–ASEAN relations and expand cooperation in mutually interested sectors. They reaffirmed their shared resolve to continue strengthening their engagement in support of ASEAN’s ongoing growth and prosperity.

On 27 April 2026, Ambassador of Brazil to ASEAN, H.E. Ambassador Henrique Ferraro, met the Permanent Representative of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar to ASEAN, H.E. Aung Myo Myint.

The two representatives focused on enhancing Brazil-ASEAN ties and identifying opportunities for collaboration across areas of common interest, including energy security.

On 16 April 2026, the Ambassador of Brazil to ASEAN, H.E. Ambassador Henrique Ferraro paid a courtesy visit to the Permanent Representative of the Republic of the Philippines to ASEAN, H.E. Ambassador Evangeline T. Ong Jimenez-Ducrocq.

The Ambassadors discussed preparations for the upcoming 3rd ASEAN–Brazil Trilateral Meeting under the Philippines’ chairship. They also shared perspectives on key chairship priorities, including energy security and biodiversity, where both sides see strong alignment.

On 16 April 2026, the Ambassador of Brazil to ASEAN, H.E. Ambassador Henrique Ferraro, paid a courtesy call on the Permanent Representative of Malaysia to ASEAN, H.E. Sarah Al Bakri Devadason.

The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views on Brazil–ASEAN relations and to discuss possible cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including renewable energy, digital transformation, science and technology, economic development, climate change, tourism, and public health.

On 15 April 2026, the Ambassador of Brazil to ASEAN, H.E. Ambassador Henrique Ferraro, met with the Permanent Representative of Indonesia to ASEAN, H.E. Ambassador M.I. Derry Aman.

The meeting served as a platform to exchange views on strengthening Brazil-ASEAN relations and broadening collaboration in areas of interest, including food security, smart cities and the key areas defined under the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific.

On 14 April 2026, the Ambassador of Brazil to ASEAN, H.E. Henrique Ferraro, made a courtesy visit to the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Singapore to ASEAN, H.E. Ambassador Gerard Ho Wei Hong.

During the meeting, the two ambassadors discussed ways to further advance ASEAN–Brazil relations and expand collaboration in areas of shared interest. They also reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening engagement and exploring new opportunities for partnership in support of regional growth and prosperity.
