🕎Portugal's Jewish heritage: the 400-year-old Torah scroll from Covilhã.

Accidentally discovered in 2006 in the portuguese city of Covilhã and revealed to the public in 2016, this Jewish manuscript, made of parchment, measures 30 meters in length and 60 centimeters in height.
It is excellently preserved, with perfectly legible letters written in iron gall ink.

This piece is considered a true jewel of world Sephardic history and Portuguese culture, and is kept in the Municipal Historical Archive of Covilhã strictly for study, technical restoration, and scientific research.

🇵🇹 A herança judaica de Portugal: a Torá de 400 anos da Covilhã.

Encontrada acidentalmente em 2006 na Covilhã e revelada ao público em 2016 é um manuscrito judaico feito em pergaminho, com 30 metros de comprimento e 60 centímetros de altura, excelentemente conservado, com as letras escritas a tinta ferrogálica perfeitamente legivel.

Esta peça é considerada uma autêntica joia da história sefardita mundial e da cultura portuguesa estando guardada no Arquivo Histórico Municipal estritamente para estudo, restauro técnico e investigação científica.

Uma torá que terá entre 300 a 400 anos foi encontrada na Covilhã.Trata-se de uma descoberta raríssima. Aconteceu há perto de vinte anos, mas só agora a descoberta foi revelada.

המשורר הפורטוגזי פרננדו פסואה, ידוע בין השאר כאמן הטרונים. אלו דמויות בדויות לחלוטין כשלכל אחת מהן יש ביוגרפיה משלה, אישיות, דעות, זיקה פוליטית וסגנון כתיבה ייחודי.
הדמות הראשית בסיפורו ״מכתב מהגיבנת למסגר״ היא מריה ז׳וזה, אישה צעירה בת 19 הסובלת מייסורי גוף ונפש: בהיותה גיבנת חולת שחפת המשותקת חלקית, מריה מבלה את רוב זמנה בביתה.
היא מביטה מהחלון על העוברים והשבים, אנשים חיוניים החיים את חייהם, מתרוצצים, עובדים, אוהבים ומטיילים, כל מה שהיא לא יכולה לעשות. היא כותבת אל אנטוניו המסגר בו היא מאוהבת, אף שהאינטראקציה היחידה ביניהם הייתה חלופת מבטים קצרה כשחתול רחוב רב עם כלב מזדמן.
מריה יודעת שחייה יסתיימו בלי שתחווה סיפור אהבה משלה, ובמכתב שלא יישלח לעולם היא כותבת לאנטוניו על רגשותיה.
נקריא מתוך הפרק שפורסם במסגרת האסופה "סאודדה" בליל הספרות האירופית הקרוב.

חברים יקרים,

אנו שמחים להזמינכם לליל הספרות האירופי החמישי בתל אביב, שיתקיים בבית ליבלינג ב-20 וב-21 באוקטובר. הצטרפו אלינו לשני ערבים של סיפורים המתעוררים לחיים על ידי שחקנים ישראלים ידועי שם, כמו גם שיחות ספרותיות, מוזיקה חיה, סרטים קצרים וסדנת יצירה.

השיר העברי של השנה, מעוף (מעוף הסיפור), מזמין אותנו לגלות את אירופה מנקודות מבט חדשות ובלתי צפויות. דרך סיפורי טיולים, הגירה, בית ושייכות, נעקוב אחר דמויות מעבר לגבולות ודרך מקומות מוכרים וזרים.

תוכנית האירוע:

יום שלישי, 20 באוקטובר:
יצירות מאיטליה, ליטא, רומניה וספרד, בהקראת אלמה דישי ואלון פרידמן.

יום רביעי, 21 באוקטובר:
יצירות מאוסטריה, צ'כיה, גרמניה, ליטא, פולין ופורטוגל, בהקראת אופיר צוויגנבום ויובל סגל.

*ליטא תוצג בשני הלילות, עם טקסט שונה בכל ערב.

Join us for two evenings featuring stories brought to life by renowned Israeli actors, alongside literary conversations, live music, short films, and a creative workshop.

This year’s theme, "Flight" (Ma'of), invites us to discover Europe from new and unexpected perspectives. Through stories of travel, migration, home, and belonging, we will follow characters across borders and through places both familiar and foreign.

Works from Italy, Lithuania, Romania, and Spain, read by Alma Dishi and Alon Friedman.

Wednesday, October 21:
Works from Austria, the Czech Republic, Germany, Lithuania, Poland, and Portugal, read by Ofir Zvigenbaum and Yuval Segal.

*Lithuania will be featured on both nights, with a different text each evening.

Today, cork is used in over 30 industries, from cork stoppers footwear and fashion (bags, wallets and clothing), to construction and insulation, to flooring and sealing systems. Aerospace is among the fastest-growing sectors and also one of the most protected by industrial secrecy.

For Portugal, cork is more than a business. It is part of the country’s natural and cultural heritage. Finding new ways to use it also means keeping that heritage alive.

Portugal produz cerca de metade da cortiça mundial.

Hoje, a cortiça é utilizada em mais de 30 indústrias, desde rolhas de cortiça, calçado e moda (malas, carteiras e vestuário), até à construção e isolamento, passando por pavimentos e sistemas de vedação. O setor aeroespacial está entre os que apresentam um crescimento mais rápido e é também um dos mais protegidos pelo sigilo industrial.

Para Portugal, a cortiça é mais do que um negócio. Faz parte do património natural e cultural do país. Encontrar novas formas de a utilizar significa também manter vivo esse património.
