Thank you so much all of you wonderful and kind people, who contributed and sent in cute toys, pretty clothes and interactive learning games. The kids at Shishu Ghruh were soo excited and couldn't stop beaming! The boys were shy but the little girls wanted to start mothering the dolls and don pretty hats and dresses immediately and with an insistence! Slowly as I broke the ice with the boys, they opened up and everyone together made me have the most heartwarming time I have ever had! - Anmol

As Mahatma Gandhi said, " There's enough in this world for every man's need, but not enough for one man's greed!"

"Children are the only future the Human Race has, and they are like wet cement - whatever falls on them, makes an impression for ever.
Its true, it is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men."
This thought inspired me to seek out those children, who don't have access to the basics of childhood that many of us, who are privileged, take for granted. These future citizens of the world, are denied opportunities for fun and all round development and they lead lives riddled with hardships.
So, to make a coherent world in the future, I believe we must share our entitlements with these enthusiastic kids, and help open doors to a world full of bright possibilities for them!
Childhoods never last, but everyone deserves one!

"It is not that people stop smiling as they age, its just that they age faster when they stop smiling."
So SPARE a few moments and SHARE your smiles with those around. What a cool way to stay young!

While it was pouring rain outside, there was a downpour of happiness and delight inside the premises of 'Prakash'- the boarding school for mentally challenged children. I was overwhelmed with their warm embraces and eager demeanours. Thanks to all of you who sent in spare stuff, I was able to collect a substantial amount of clothes, caps, bags and basic toiletries etc. for them. The most humbling part was them praying and thanking me while I was serving them lunch. Their good-humour and warmth touched me and has inspired me to do more...

Hi!
For some time now, I have been volunteering my spare time and spare belongings to worthy causes. Up until now, it has been on a very personal level, but this year I am inspired to share my project with you and expand the canvas of my activities.
We can spread more smiles, than I can on my own.
It started with a realization that in this age of excesses, we own more than we need. Extra books, redundant clothes, surplus accessories, spare pens and stationery, games and puzzles we've outgrown; the list goes on and on. Every time I get new things, the existing ones are neglected and relegated to a corner. As I became aware that there are disadvantaged people who need things while I have plenty, I started identifying items I wasn’t really using or needing and distributed them among institutions which support the less privileged.
It makes me happy that the Rubik's cube that I got for my seventh birthday is now fascinating an enthusiastic kid or that a girl is feeling like a princess in the chaniya choli that I don't care to repeat this navratri.
Sharing your Spare Stuff is like a Win-Win thing. Think about it - Your room looks neat and you get space for more stuff; you can make a sad person very glad and your once cherished possession will no longer languish in a pile but will be treasured for a long time. Not to forget that as a happy bonus, you will reduce your carbon footprint through recycling!
We have all learnt the lesson of “Sharing is Caring” when we were young. But sometimes we are so caught up in our lives, that we are not able to put it into practice ourselves.
So, I am inviting you to join and pitch in. Simply 'Share-A-Spare' to show you care.
All you have to do is identify the cool stuff you can’t use anymore and I will help you share it with those who need it and will enjoy it.
Some examples of items can be:
==> Note-Books and Stationery like pencils, compass boxes, erasers, rulers
==> Books/ Story Books / Games / Puzzles
==> Good Clothes and Accessories
==> Music CDs/ players/ working computers or laptops
==> Raincoats/ Umbrellas/ water bottles
Some of the causes that can benefit from your donation are night schools on the footpath, underprivileged children studying at municipal schools, orphans, mentally challenged people, young people having cancer and autistic children.
Should you choose to extend your support and contribute to this venture, I will be writing to you regularly to let you know of my progress. I will also be posting updates and acknowledgements on Facebook ( www.facebook.com/ShareaSpare ) and a website that I am trying to put together.
