Condemnation of the NDA government’s deceptive delimitation tactics under the guise of Women’s Reservation

The Narendra Modi-led NDA Government is once again engaging in a masterclass of political deception. By linking the long-overdue implementation of Women’s Reservation to delimitation exercise, this government has revealed its true colours: it is using the aspirations of India’s women as a tactical shield for a sinister agenda.

This is not about women’s empowerment; it is a calculated attempt at political gerrymandering. The BJP is attempting to redraw the political map of India to suit its own electoral arithmetic, potentially disenfranchising millions and tilting the scales permanently in its favour. To hold women’s rights hostage to a future delimitation process is a blatant betrayal of the mandate of the people.

I stand firmly with Shri Rahul Gandhi and the All India Congress Committee (AICC) in calling out this "pretext tactic." If the Prime Minister were sincere about women’s representation, the reservation would be implemented way back, without the unnecessary hurdles of census and delimitation.

The All India Congress Committee remains unwavering in its commitment to the women, Adivasis, and backward classes of this nation.

True justice is impossible without a sub-quota for OBC, SC, and ST women. As Shri Rahul Gandhi has rightly pointed out, without a Caste Census and inclusion of the backward classes, this bill remains a hollow shell that ignores the majority of India’s daughters.

The BJP’s attempt to weaponise constitutional processes for partisan gain is an affront to our democracy. We will not allow the voices of the marginalised and the backward classes to be silenced by the political machinations of the RSS-BJP combine.

The Congress party fought for the rights of the underprivileged long before this government came to power, and we will continue to be the vanguard for those whom the Modi government seeks to exclude from the halls of power.
