The Sun loses ~ 4.3 billion kilograms of mass every second, mainly through nuclear fusion and solar wind. Fusion converts mass into energy (via E = mc²), and the solar wind blows particles into space. Despite this, the Sun has only lost 0.05% of its total mass in 4.5 billion years and will keep shining for about 5 billion more years.

Fusion in the core: Every second, millions of tons of hydrogen are turned into helium, releasing immense energy that powers sunlight.

Solar wind: A steady stream of charged particles escapes the Sun’s corona, affecting planets and space weather.

This mass loss is normal and stable, not a sign of any danger. Eventually, the Sun will swell into a red giant, shed its outer layers, and become a white dwarf, a dense stellar remnant.
