A very honest review by 10 year old Rithwik on FableHaven series. If you read carefully you can understand how kids perceive things. If the story takes too long to reach the action, their brain feels like it is “waiting” instead of “experiencing”. Short attention spans, developing vocabulary and the effort of decoding words make long descriptions feel slow and tiring.
Kids don’t dislike reading — they dislike waiting for the story to start.

The Fablehaven story follows siblings Kendra and Seth, who discover their grandparents run a secret sanctuary for magical creatures—fairies, trolls, witches, demons and more. What begins as a summer visit quickly turns into a high-stakes adventure filled with secrets, puzzles and dangerous magic.

If your teenager is into fanatsy then this could be their next read. Do check them out at the library.
