Congress led UPA government launched the largest social welfare scheme of its kind, Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act which guarantees 100 days of wage employment and reaches every 5th rural Indian. We introduced the National Food Security Act which provides heavily subsidized food grains to over 2/3rd of India; we made education a legal right of every child through the Right to Education Act. We brought to you the historic Right to Information act and Lokpal Bill in our effort to combat corruption. These are just few of the many notable programs we have introduced to take India forward in its bid to achieve a more inclusive growth. Over 140 million Indians have been pushed out of extreme poverty in the past 10 years and India is the second fastest growing country. Without your effort this wouldn't have been possible.
