Violation of Model Code of Conduct

Statement of Modi at a poll rally in Uddhampur of Jammu and Kashmir that "opposition leaders were trying to mock the people of the country by posting videos of themselves eating non-vegetarian food during Sawan, a holy month in the Hindu calendar... posting such videos reflected the ideology of Mughal invaders" is a blatant attempt to stoke religious sentiments to garner votes. This is in violation of the Model Code of Conduct.

The Election Commission of India is requested to take cognizance of this violation and initiate action against Modi.

Withdrawal of 2000-rupee notes: a repeat of the chaos

New Delhi, 20 May 2023: It seems that the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party has no sense of public responsibility and its decisions are taken mindlessly without considering the implications they have on the people. The decision to withdraw the 2000-rupee notes shows the BJP's lack of responsibility towards the public, said Abdul Majeed Faizy, national general secretary of Social Democratic Party of India.

In his press statement, the SDPI leader said that people were still reeling under the negative impact of the November 2016 sudden demonetization decision when this new announcement has rubbed salt into their wound. One after the other the BJP has failed the nation with its anti-public decisions.

Earlier people stood in long queues in the bone-chilling winter to withdraw Rs 200 and Rs 100 denomination banknotes for their daily needs while banks and ATMs ran out of cash for months, now they have to stand in line in the sweltering summer to deposit their 2000 rupee notes. This is the repeat of the demonetization chaos that will be too painful for the people, Faizy said, adding that the BJP's sensor-chips, attached to the country's highest denomination 2000-rupee notes that were so widely sold to the media, failed to trace the black money and are now back to where they were issued from.

ಕೇಡರ್ ಬೇಸ್ಡ್, ಸೈದ್ಧಾಂತಿಕ ಪಕ್ಷಗಳು ಚುನಾವಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾವತ್ತೂ ಸುಲಭ ಹಾಗೂ ಕ್ಷಿಪ್ರ ಜಯವನ್ನು ಗಳಿಸಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಿಲ್ಲ. ನಮಗೆ ಚುನಾವಣೆ ಎಂದರೆ ಕೇವಲ ಪ್ರಚಾರ, ಮತದಾನ, ಫಲಿತಾಂಶ ಅಷ್ಟಕ್ಕೆ ಮಾತ್ರ ಸೀಮಿತವಲ್ಲ. ಅದು ಐದು ವರ್ಷಗಳಿಗೊಮ್ಮೆ ಬರುವ ಪ್ರಕ್ರಿಯೆ ಮಾತ್ರ, SDPI ಪಕ್ಷದ ಚುನಾವಣಾ ರಾಜಕೀಯಕ್ಕಿಂತಲೂ ಮಿಗಿಲಾಗಿ ಹೋರಾಟ ರಾಜಕೀಯವನ್ನು ನೆಚ್ಚಿಕೊಂಡಿರುವ ಪಕ್ಷ. ಇಂತಹ ವಿಷಮ ಸನ್ನಿವೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧಿಸಿದರೆ, ತನ್ನ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ಟೀಕೆ-ಟಿಪ್ಪಣಿಗಳು ಬರಬಹುದು ಎಂದು ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿ ಅರಿತು, ಕೇವಲ 16 ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆ ಮಾಡಿದ SDPI ದೂರ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಯನ್ನು ಅರ್ಥ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳದ ಜನರು ಮಾತ್ರವೇ ನಮ್ಮ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆಯನ್ನು ಗೇಲಿ ಮಾಡಬಲ್ಲರು.

ಅಖಿಲ ಭಾರತ ಮುಸ್ಲಿಂ ವೈಯಕ್ತಿಕ ಕಾನೂನು ಮಂಡಳಿಯ ಕಾರ್ಯದರ್ಶಿ ಅಡ್ವಕೇಟ್ ಜಫರ್ಯಾಬ್ ಜಿಲಾನಿ ಅವರ ನಿಧನ ನನಗೆ ಅತೀವ ದುಃಖ ತಂದಿದೆ. ಸದಾ ಸಮುದಾಯದ ಒಳಿತಿಗಾಗಿ ಮಿಡಿಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಅವರು ಅದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ತಮ್ಮ ಜೀವನವನ್ನೇ ಮುಡುಪಾಗಿಟ್ಟಿದ್ದರು. ಬಾಬರಿ ಮಸೀದಿಯ ಪ್ರಕರಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರು ನಡೆಸಿದ ಹೋರಾಟ ಮರೆಯಲಾಗದ್ದು.

The passing away of Advocate Zafaryab Jilani, Secretary of All India Muslim Personal Law Board is a big loss. His long struggle for justice in the Babri Masjid case will be remembered forever.
