Reading as a Habit, Reading as a Movement
“Reading a book is among the most high‑leverage activities on earth.” — Be Useful: Seven Tools for Life by Arnold Schwarzenegger
At Bhubaneswar Reads Together (BRT), we believe in the quiet power of daily reading. A few pages each day — absorbed, reflected, and shared — can transform perspective and nurture calm.
Let’s grow our silent reading community city‑wide:
Pick up a book.
Give yourself 20 minutes of quiet.
Share your reflections with your circle.
Inspire others to join.
Join the channel, share the channel, and help Bhubaneswar become a city of passionate readers.

World Book Day | April 23
🌸A Timeless Celebration of Literature
x
Books are bridges — between cultures, generations, and dreams.
From Shakespeare’s stage to Tagore’s verses, from Cervantes’ windmills to Malgudi’s streets, stories remind us that reading is a form of revival.
India’s Literary Legacy:
Tagore’s Gitanjali taught us reflection.
Premchand’s realism gave voice to everyday India.
R.K. Narayan’s Malgudi Days made simplicity eternal.
Ashwin Sanghi’s modern mytho‑fiction keeps tradition alive.
Celebrate with Bhubaneswar Reads Together:
Read 20 minutes from a book that shaped you.
Share your favorite Indian author or quote.
Use
Tag to join the movement.
📖Because when women read, families grow — and when communities read, nations thrive.

Ambassadors & Advisors Carrying Forward Viksit Sanghini
When Viksit Sanghini was inaugurated by Mayor Sulochana Das and platformed by the OCF Women’s Wing, concpetualised and anchored by The Book Turf along with movement partners, we knew this journey needed committed voices to pledge visibility, continuity, and solidarity.
We are proud to share that 24 Ambassadors and 6 Advisors have stepped into leadership. Each received framed certificates documenting their role in carrying this narrative forward both on stage and off stage.
Our Ambassadors represent the everyday strength of urban women, while our Advisors, women and men alike, bring professional guidance, civic perspective, and solidarity to ensure the study remains balanced, inclusive, and impactful.
This collective effort is supported by our movement partners:
OCF Womens Wing - Platfrom Partner Ushasi Rath
Asha Wellness - Dr. Namrita Chahal
Emoha Eldercare Bhubaneswar - Shashwat Satpathy
Umika Foundation - Smruti Mishra
SOA Radio - Honey Patnaik (Radio Partner)
Together, they will lead across six focus areas:
Wellness & Emotional Care
Skill‑Building & Economic Participation
Civic Visibility & Safety
Cultural & Identity Pride
Markets & Brand Visibility
Community Networks & Resource Hubs
Their pledge is simple yet powerful: to uplift, to continue, and to make urban women visible in civic memory.
This Women’s Day, we celebrate them custodians of dignity, solidarity, and empowerment, standing with us to take the year‑long study forward.

We are deeply grateful to Mayor Sulochana Das for her gracious presence and support at the inauguration of Viksit Sanghini Help Desk, conceptulised anchored byThe Book Turf and supported by OCF womens wing platform. Her encouragement filled the launch with dignity, inspiration, and hope reminding us that women’s empowerment is both a civic responsibility and a collective celebration.
Viksit Sanghini means progressive sisterhood its a platform where women come together for visibility, wellness, and solidarity. Through the Help Desk, women will be guided to a study that will connect across six areas of focus:
Skill & Entrepreneurship – training, incubation, and pathways for independence.
Wellness & Resilience – workshops, counseling, and shared practices for holistic care.
Community & Solidarity – circles of support across neighborhoods and institutions.
Visibility & Recognition – storytelling, press, and artifacts that honor women’s journeys.
Civic Anchoring – direct links to city leadership, proposals, and institutional resources.
Cultural Pride & Tradition – heritage, saree movements, and collective identity woven into empowerment.
As Mayor ma’am has been deeply supportive, we are counting upon her guidance to strengthen these six areas and to connect women with the right partners from government bodies and BMC to banks, wellness institutions, universities, and local enterprises.
Our movement partners especially for Viksit Sanghini are Wellness, Emoha Eldercare, Umika Foundation, Platform Partner OCF and Radio partner SOA Radio together stand united in carrying this mission forward with renewed energy.

In advance, we wish her a Happy Women’s Day may it be a celebration of empowerment, solidarity, and the leadership she embodies for our city.
