As we celebrate our 6th anniversary, here's a heartfelt message from our founder, Gazal Raina
Today, Milaap turns 6. I am filled with immense gratitude for all the love and encouragement our support group and the cause of Parental Alienation have received.
Milaap began with a few individuals creating a support group for parents experiencing Alienation – a painful phenomenon where one parent is wilfully cut off from their children. Today, we are a community of over 300 strong, supported by thousands including legal experts, counsellors, educators, healers, media, and the public who believe this deserves attention.
Our growth in numbers is less important than the strength of our voice against the damage alienation inflicts on children. When a child is made to hate a parent, their childhood is stolen, leaving them with bitterness, anger, and resentment towards a parent and their entire past.
Alienation has far-reaching consequences, erasing their past, blinding their present, and impacting their ability to trust and form loving connections for life.
If you are navigating separation or divorce, embrace forgiveness, tolerance, and Shared Parenting. Let this new chapter bring less acrimony and healthier relationships for you and your children, even while living apart. You may not have been a great couple, but you can strive to be good co-parents. Gift your children this new version of yourselves and watch them love you anew.
To the world reading this, help us create a world where no child experiences alienation by speaking out against this social pandemic. When you see single parents with sole access to their children, question it. Understand that children rarely hate a parent without influence. Help change perspectives and guide families towards Shared Parenting.
