This summer, in partnership with the Odisha School Education Programme Authority, Government of Odisha, we are rolling out a statewide Summer Learning Program to support parents in becoming active partners in their children’s learning during the heat-induced school closures.

Through simple, engaging, and joyful learning activities shared with families, parents across Odisha are spending meaningful time with their children at home and actively supporting their learning. We are receiving heartwarming responses from across the state, with families enthusiastically participating in these activities together.

Here are some glimpses of activities completed by children and shared by parents with us. These activities are designed to help children build foundational skills in a fun, engaging, and interactive way, making learning enjoyable during the summer break.

9 out of 11 foundational numeracy skills showed improvement.
9 out of 9 literacy skills demonstrated positive gains.

An independent evaluation of ThinkZone’s PRAKASHAK programme in Odisha found meaningful improvements in both foundational numeracy and literacy over a 5-month period among children receiving structured learning support at home.

In numeracy, the strongest gains were seen in number comparison, subtraction fluency, and arithmetic fundamentals.

In literacy, children showed notable progress in letter recognition, familiar word reading, listening comprehension, and oral reading fluency.

The findings reinforce a simple but important idea: when learning continues beyond the classroom, children build stronger foundational skills.

We’re excited to share that ThinkZone has officially launched the statewide Summer Learning Program 2026-27 (SLP 2.0) in collaboration with the Odisha State Education Programme Authority (OSEPA), Government of Odisha.

The program aims to support children across Odisha during school closures caused by the ongoing heatwave. Through AI-enabled, accessible technology solutions, the initiative empowers parents to actively support their children’s learning at home and ensure learning continuity during this period.

SLP 2.0 has been designed by incorporating key learnings from SLP 1.0 (2025-26) and the year-long state-supported reading campaign, making the program even more robust and impactful.

A special thanks to the team at Central Square Foundation for their continuous support in implementing the program at scale.

Impact on Learning Outcomes Study Report is now live.

As part of the LiftEd EdTech Accelerator, ThinkZone has been working to strengthen children’s foundational learning through meaningful parental engagement and technology-enabled solutions via our PRAKASHAK program.

Over the past two years, the Accelerator has supported us in deepening our at-home learning approach and scaling our work across Odisha.

As part of the Accelerator’s evidence generation efforts to understand “what works” in EdTech, this independent quasi-experimental study, conducted under the guidance of Prof. Tarun Jain, validates our intervention model and provides strong evidence that it can drive meaningful learning gains.

We are grateful to Central Square Foundation, Michael & Susan Dell Foundation, Reliance Foundation, UBS, British Asian Trust, and Educational Initiatives for their continued support.
