Fluid in the Abdomen of Dogs: Signs, Causes and TreatmentAscites in a dog is a serious medical condition where fluid accumulates in the abdominal cavity, leading to a distended belly. It is a symptom of an underlying health problem, such as congestive heart failure, liver disease, kidney dysfunction, or cancer. Symptoms include an enlarged abdomen, lethargy, vomiting, and difficulty breathing. Treatment varies depending on the cause but may involve diet, medications, or surgery.
Causes
Congestive heart failure or other heart issues
Liver disease or chronic liver failure
Kidney dysfunction or failure
Cancer
Hypoproteinemia (low protein levels in blood)
Portal hypertension
Symptoms
An enlarged, bloated abdomen
Lethargy or weakness
Vomiting or loss of appetite
Weight gain
Difficulty breathing or panting
Discomfort when the abdomen is touched
Restlessness or anxiety
Treatment
Treat the underlying cause: The most important step is to diagnose and treat the root cause of the ascites.
Dietary changes: Restricting sodium in the dog's diet can help.
Medications: Diuretics may be prescribed to help the body eliminate excess fluid.
Abdominocentesis: In some cases, a veterinary procedure to drain the fluid may be necessary.
Surgery: Depending on the underlying cause, surgery may be an option

A 12 yrs old female named Shabby affected with severe Pyometra, Pray for her Fast recovery
Pyometra is a severe, life-threatening bacterial infection of the uterus in unspayed female dogs, often occurring after a heat cycle, characterized by pus accumulation and symptoms like lethargy, increased thirst, vomiting, and abdominal swelling. The condition results from hormonal changes during diestrus that weaken the uterine immune response and cause cervical closure, creating an environment ripe for infection. The most effective and common treatment is surgical removal of the uterus and ovaries (spaying), though medical management is sometimes used. Prevention is simple and effective: spaying your dog at a young, healthy age.
