Ashirvachnam Foundation की ओर से एक जागरूकता पहल

गर्मी अपने चरम पर थी। सूरज जैसे आसमान से आग बरसा रहा था और धरती तंदूर सी तप रही थी। ऐसे ही एक दोपहर, आठ साल का मासूम राहुल अपनी दादी के साथ छत पर गया। गर्म हवाओं के बीच उसे कुछ परिंदे दिखाई दिए — प्यासे, थके और बेचैन।

दादी ने एक मिट्टी का बर्तन उठाया, उसमें साफ पानी भरा और छत के कोने में रख दिया। फिर एक पुरानी थाली में चावल, बाजरा और साबुत चने डाल दिए।

राहुल ने मासूमियत से पूछा,
"दादी, ये किसके लिए?"

दादी ने मुस्कराकर कहा,
"बेटा, ये परिंदों के लिए हैं। गर्मी में जब हम ठंडी जगहों में रहते हैं, तब ये नन्हें पंछी प्यास और भूख से जूझते हैं। हमारा छोटा सा प्रयास, इनके लिए राहत बन सकता है।"

राहुल ने देखा — एक कबूतर आया और पानी पीने लगा। फिर एक गौरैया आई, दाने चुगे, और उसके पीछे और भी चिड़ियाँ। छत मानो एक छोटी सी पंछी दुनिया बन गई।

राहुल की आँखों में चमक आ गई।
उसने मुस्कराकर कहा:
"अब से मैं रोज़ पानी और दाना रखूँगा। ये मेरी छत की दुनिया है और मैं इसका रखवाला हूँ।"

In India, crimes against women have seen a concerning rise. According to the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), a total of 4,45,256 cases of crimes against women were reported in 2022, reflecting a 4% increase compared to 2021 (4,28,278 cases).

These crimes include serious offenses like r**e, molestation, dowry harassment, domestic violence, sexual harassment, cybercrimes, and abductions. In particular, r**e cases have shown a steady rise, with nearly 32,000 cases reported in 2023.

Despite the increase in reported crimes, conviction rates have declined, raising questions about the efficiency of the justice system. Between 2017 and 2022, 1,551 cases of murder combined with r**e/gang r**e were recorded, but the conviction rates remain disappointing.

The government has undertaken various measures to ensure women’s safety, including amendments to laws, establishing women’s helplines, and deploying women police forces. However, the effective implementation of these initiatives at the grassroots level is still a challenge.

To curb the rising crimes against women, collective efforts from all sections of society are crucial to create a safe and respectful environment for women in India.
