तमिलनाडु विधानसभा में हुई घटनाओं से संबंधित समाचार रिपोर्टों और संपादकीय के प्रकाशन के बाद Legislative Privilege का मुद्दा सामने आया था। इन प्रकाशनों के बाद तमिलनाडु विधानसभा के स्पीकर ने विधानसभा नियमों के Rule 226 के तहत मामले को Privileges Committee के पास जांच और रिपोर्ट के लिए भेजा था। इस मामले से जुड़े Reference पर सुप्रीम कोर्ट की 7-जजों की बेंच ने 6 अक्टूबर 2026 को सुनवाई करते हुए इसे infructuous मानकर निस्तारित कर दिया।

जब कानून के रक्षक ही कानून की मर्यादा पर सवालों के घेरे में आ जाएं, तो जवाबदेही बेहद जरूरी हो जाती है।
अटापुर पुलिस स्टेशन, हैदराबाद में महिला अधिवक्ता के साथ कथित मारपीट और दुर्व्यवहार का यह मामला पुलिस व्यवस्था और अधिवक्ताओं की सुरक्षा को लेकर गंभीर सवाल खड़े करता है।
