Over the last decade, weโve seen corporate India step beyond boardrooms and engage more closely with communities, in villages, classrooms, health centres, farms, and many other spaces across the country.
This upcoming book is our attempt to capture that journey.
Through first-person narratives from corporate leaders, policymakers, civil society practitioners, and domain experts, it brings together voices shaped by years of working at the corporate-community interface, the challenges, the learnings, and the evolution along the way.
Weโre excited to share more with you soon.

With 100+ government school mergers since 2022, and the access to government schools reducing, especially for underprivileged students, DSF's Menon, Kamala stresses, "School education must be available for everybody... Regardless of class or family background."
While the policy promises equity, the enrollment crashing by 3.3 lakh students, overenrolled classrooms, longer commutes, a lack of basic facilities, teacher shortages and denied admissions for 80,000 children, say otherwise.

Indian endurance runner, ๐ฃ๐ผ๐ผ๐ท๐ฎ ๐๐ฟ๐ถ๐๐ต๐ป๐ฎ๐บ๐ผ๐ผ๐ฟ๐๐ต๐ brings a quiet strength to sport, rooted in consistency, resolve, and showing up through uncertainty.
From mountaineering to ultrarunning, her journey isnโt just about finishing races like Brazil 135. Itโs about showing up, navigating doubt, and honouring an inner calling while balancing multiple identities with grace.
This thoughtful exchange brings her to reflect on resilience, support systems, and the subtle challenges women continue to face in the sporting space, leaving behind a simple but powerful reminder: "๐บ๐ฐ๐ถ ๐ฅ๐ฐ๐ฏโ๐ต ๐ฏ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฅ ๐ฆ๐ท๐ฆ๐ณ๐บ๐ต๐ฉ๐ช๐ฏ๐จ ๐ง๐ช๐จ๐ถ๐ณ๐ฆ๐ฅ ๐ฐ๐ถ๐ต ๐ต๐ฐ ๐ฃ๐ฆ๐จ๐ช๐ฏ."

During a recent field visit to Udaipur, team CauseBecause went on the ground to understand how DS Groupโs CSR work is helping redefine what continuity looks like in rural livelihoods. From collective irrigation systems to local enterprises and practical designs for womenโs work, every effort reflected intent, learning, and growing trust.
The full field report documents these observations and the realities behind long-term social interventions.

Environmentalist Rakesh Khatri at the CauseBecause office today.
Often referred to as the Nest-man of India, he started making nests for sparrows back in 2008, initially on his own and then with children everywhere. In that first year he made 20 nests โ it took about 4 days for the first nest to be adopted by a sparrow. Since then, he has made more than 400,000 nestsโand counting. :)
Khatri says people tend to ask why they should make the nests โ shouldnโt the birds be doing that? Well, have we left them any space in our urban jungles?

The coffee is brewing (in our heads) and so are the conversations (again, in our heads only). We are so looking forward to both of the treats tomorrow โ hopefully as much as the participants are. We are celebrating 10 years of CSR and some 25-30 leaders from corporate groups and foundations will be engaging at the event's trademark not-so-formal conversations.
So here's to Edition 7 of Coffee for Cause...

A coffee meet-up where โ
If you are a brand that believes that is what will underline, justify and differentiate its existence...
If you are a corporation trying to align and re-align your operations, processes and essentially everything with what is sustainable (and the )โฆ
If you are a social entrepreneur/ innovator/ disruptor trying to find for all things non-sustainable...
If you are a non-profit implementing programmes that are โฆ
If you are a concerned /conscious/ conscientious individual always or mostly trying to lead a (but ever so often feel dejected by the state of affairs and left wondering if others are bothered at all about the environment, the planet, the future)...
โ we meet and talk about all of the above and more. And go back home with something that feels like hope.

It was great meeting Govind Ram Saini in Jaipur. He is the voice of over a hundred โindependentโ specially-abled individuals in and around Amer region of Jaipur. This humble human went door to door on his tricycle to distribute food during the lockdown.
The lady in bright orange is Sarita-ji, president of Nath Seva Sansthan, a go-to person for almost every villager in need. She had led a massive meal and ration distribution drive during Covid and mobilised volunteers like Govind Ram. For over a year, these people were sustaining thousands of families in the region.
The women in the second photo are some of the beneficiaries.
(All of these people here are part of the Hero WeCare family โ part of their CSR journey.)
And what is Team CauseBecause (Ranjan in the photos) doing in this remote dhani (local word for hamlet)? Well, to experience the realities and the impact of a social intervention, we have to be there, with the beneficiaries. We donโt miss a chance to be with the team on the ground, especially when itโs in the countryโs lesser-known places, where more interventions and holistic impact are needed.
