Vocational training for Library and Information Science Students

ICSSR-NASSDOC invites applications for the vocational training in Library and Information Science for three (3) months for the Graduate/PG students who are passed out and looking for experience in the library. The training will impart hands on experience through involving in practical work assignments in the various functions of NASSDOC.

At a time, training will be provided for six (6) candidates for a period of three (3) months only and for this training no salary/stipend, no further employment will be offered, however a fixed travel allowance of Rs.3000/- per month will be provided. Up on completion of the vocational training, an experience certificate will be issued for the trainee.

Applications from suitable candidates are invited for filling up the post of Documentation Officer purely on a contractual basis in the Indian Council of Social Science Research, New Delhi. The person having the following qualifications/experience may apply:

Educational Qualification/Eligibility: (1) Master’s Degree with 50% marks in any social science from the recognized University or equivalent; and (2) Degree in Library Science or equivalent qualifications with at least five years’ experience of library/documentation work in Govt. or other organization of repute.

Applications are invited from graduates for one-year Apprenticeship Program at the National Social Science Documentation Centre of the Indian Council of Social Science Research, New Delhi. The candidate must have recently obtained degree / diploma in Library and Information Science and should not be born before 1st January 1991. Total six positions are available with the stipend of Rs.15000/- per month. The candidate must possess the knowledge of computers, library automation, library software and data entry skills. Age relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/PH categories will be provided as per the norms of the Central Government. Only unemployed SC and ST Category candidates will be reimbursed 2nd class sleeper rail fare/bus fare from the shortest route on production of the original tickets. They must also submit an undertaking regarding their unemployment.

ICSSR, New Delhi requires Documentation Assistants on contractual basis

Applications are invited from eligible candidates for the position of Documentation Assistant (on contract) in the ICSSR with following essential qualifications:
(1) Post Graduate Degree with at least 55% marks or its equivalent grade in any of the Social Science Discipline and a Bachelor’s Degree in Library and Information Science from a recognized university
or
A Post Graduate Degree with at least 55% marks or its equivalent grade in Library and Information Science from a recognized university

(2) Three years’ experience of working in a library or Documentation Centre of repute or Ph.D. in any Social Science Discipline

Note
• The position is purely contractual in nature.
• Age limit: 35 years on the last date of receiving application (relaxations as per GOI norms will be applicable).
• Apart from essential qualifications, the candidate must possess ICT skills and knowledge of library management software/ILMS, Koha, DSpace, Reference/Research Management Tools etc.
