On 4 April 2025, AISA along with other student organizations held a demonstration near Gate 7 of JMI in protest against the unconstitutional and communal Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2025.
In a shameful display of authoritarianism, Delhi police along with CRPF and RAF were also deployed outside the gate in large numbers since morning to alarm the students, creating a threatening environment. Moreover, the Jamia administration locked down the campus—shutting all gates and preventing students from both entering and exiting.
As an act of symbolic resistance, the bill was burned. In a desperate attempt to drown out student voices, the proctor instructed campus guards to blow whistles continuously during the speeches—a cheap tactic that only further exposed the administration’s fear of dissent.
Despite these suppressive tactics, we will continue to resist every attempt to silence us and continue the fight against this assault on our Constitution.

Delhi Police Leave Jamia Millia Islamia!!
We want to tell the Jamia administration and Delhi Police that they can shut down Zakir Hussain Library, but the visuals of 15th December 2019 remain engraved in our minds!
No amount of curb on protests and campus lockdowns can make us forget!
We shall resist!
We shall keep fighting for justice!

It was on 12th December in 2019, when the women students of Jamia Millia Islamia claimed this country as their own against the discriminatory anti-Muslim Citizenship Amendment Act!
Thousands of students were led by these women in a march inside the campus where the CAA-NPR-NRC were resolutely rejected! A call for a march to the Parliament was given on the subsequent day. As the students of Jamia Millia Islamia took to the streets, the Delhi Police unleashed a brutal lathi charge. Tear gas shells were thrown by the police injuring several students.
To this day, Jamia Millia Islamia University along with the surrounding area remains under heavy state surveillance. Dozens of uniformed officers can still be seen positioned at the gates of the university.
Today, we remember not just the sheer violence and brutality of the state and police but also the courage of the students who stood in defense of the ideas of equality and justice.
We remember in rage!
We remember in solidarity!
We remember to reaffirm our commitments to the struggle against the Sangh's fascist anti-Muslim agenda and the relentless attack on the secular democratic ethos of our country!
Never Forget! Never Forgive!

AISA condemns the Sangh takeover of the Jamia administration!
The Jamia administration is complicit in the communal tirade of the ABVP and Yuva and is actively leading the attempt to saffronise our campus by allowing groups such as the Yuva and ABVP full freedom to instigate communal hatred on campus. This repeated targeting of Muslim students of Jamia as anti-Hindu based on the lie that they were against the celebration of Diwali is extremely dangerous and part of their national scheme of fanning anti-Muslim hatred. The student community of Jamia must call out the ABVP and any attempt to disturb the atmosphere of Jamia must be defeated by us all.

Today, on 6th September, Fatima Sheikh Study Circle, organized by AISA Jamia, hosted a discussion led by a faculty member from the sociology department on "Understanding Gender and Intersectionality through Sociological Perspective" . The session began with discussion on the social construct of gender, the portrayal of Muslim women in media, and the intersections of identity and power. The speaker critiqued films like The Kerala Story for their problematic depictions, emphasizing how dominant groups often frame Muslim women as either "dangerous" or "oppressed." The conversation extended to the selective outrage surrounding gender-based violence and how society's support often depends on specific identity markers. A PhD scholar explained how the state plays a role in defining "worth" and "value" in contexts of violence, including r**e as a tool during pogroms like Gujarat 2002. The discussion concluded with a collective call for gender sensitization and the creation of a gender-just campus.

Expose the Corruption in Sports Quota Admissions!
The admission process for class 11 and 12 at Jamia Millia Islamia in the sports quota has become a testimony of blunder and corruption. Recent admissions under the sports quota have exposed the JMI administration's corruption and its nexus with guardians and favoritism.
We witnessed a lack of transparency in the admission process. There is also unjust preferential treatment towards their favorites, and continuous rigging in the sports trials. The administration even released the second-round cut-off for the sports quota without holding trials and offered admissions to their favored candidates.
AISA Jamia Millia Islamia condemns this blatant corruption and demands immediate action.
We, the students, will not tolerate this subversion of merit and stand united against this malpractice.
Join the Struggle for a Fair Admission Process.
Immediately stop the arbitrary process & seat selling
Take action against the involved officials.

Remembering Gauri Lankesh!
Fierce Voice of Journalism Against Hindutva
On September 5, 2017, Gauri Lankesh was assassinated outside her home in Bengaluru. Her murder was part of a series of killings targeting rationalists and progressive thinkers in India.
Despite threats and intimidation, Lankesh's legacy continues to inspire journalists and activists to speak truth to power and defend India's secular democracy.

On 29 August 2024, a case of sexual harassment was registered against Prof. Girish Chandra Pant, Head of the Sanskrit department. The case comes almost a month after Prof. Velayutham Sarvanan was suspended after multiple cases of sexual harassment against him.
There has been a serious rise in the cases of sexual harassment in the university but the ICC's way of working and ensuring gender justice has not improved and remains incompetent. The ICC continues to delay the inquiry and protect the accused administration which has led to the students losing their faith in the institution and overall university administration.
AISA stands in solidarity with the complainant and demands the ICC to speed up the inquiry process and make sure that the accused professor is not allowed on the campus until the inquiry is completed.
AISA demands to dismantle the incompetent and puppet ICC and instate a transparent and accountable GSCASH.
