“Off the coast of Mangrol in Gujarat’s Junagadh district, fishermen have recorded one of the biggest Yellowfin Tuna catches of the season. Nearly 100 nautical miles into the Arabian Sea, two deep-sea trawlers — Mahi Sagar 10 IND GJ 11 ds 4117 and Shree Ganesh 9 IND GJ 11 DS 4116 — returned with an impressive haul of around 12 tonnes of Yellowfin Tuna.

Each vessel carried a crew of 10 fishermen who spent days navigating deep waters within India’s Exclusive Economic Zone. The tuna, weighing between 60 and 90 kilograms each, marked a rewarding end to the fishing season for the crews.

The catch highlights both the skill and endurance of Gujarat’s deep-sea fishermen and the growing potential of India’s marine fisheries sector.”
