ISM and HSBC jointly hosted a webinar on “India’s Next Semiconductor Wave” today, bringing together leading policymakers and industry leaders to share key insights on India’s semiconductor ambitions, emerging opportunities, and the country’s evolving role in the global semiconductor value chain.
During the session, Shri Amitesh Kumar Sinha, Additional Secretary, MeitY & CEO, India Semiconductor Mission, highlighted India’s consistent efforts in building a comprehensive semiconductor ecosystem. He shared updates on the 12 approved semiconductor projects under ISM, key policy initiatives, global partnerships, talent development programmes, and strategic roadmap for building a robust and resilient semiconductor ecosystem in India.

The Government of Odisha, Intel and 3DGS have signed an MoU on 29.05.2026 to bring advanced substrate manufacturing technology to India, marking a significant milestone in strengthening the nation’s semiconductor ecosystem.
The signing of MoU is in line with the Government's vision of developing the entire ecosystem of semiconductor manufacturing in India.
The proposed project is expected to generate high-skilled employment opportunities while creating significant indirect employment across the broader manufacturing and technology ecosystem.

SEZs: Enabling Ease of Doing Business, Driving Exports, Powering Growth.
Special Economic Zone are created to encourage investment, boost exports, generate jobs, and support industrial growth, making it easier for companies to set up and expand their operations.
Foreign Trade Policy 2023 Para 2.03(A)(iii) has been amended to align SEZ import provisions with the SEZ Act, 2005 and SEZ Rules, 2006, while providing greater clarity on the applicability of Quality Control Orders (QCOs).

NITI Aayog’s Frontier Tech Hub has released a comprehensive 10-year roadmap titled “Future of India’s Semiconductor Industry”, outlining India’s strategic vision to strengthen its position across the global semiconductor value chain.
The launch took place in the august presence of Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, Hon’ble Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs, and Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister for Railways, Information & Broadcasting and Electronics & Information Technology, on 29.05.2026, along with Shri Ashok Lahiri, Hon’ble Vice Chairman, NITI Aayog and other distinguished dignitaries.
The roadmap outlines an ambitious vision of developing a USD 120–150 billion semiconductor ecosystem by 2035. It further identifies key strategic priorities and emerging opportunities across the semiconductor landscape to strengthen India’s standing in the global semiconductor industry.
