Conservation Education Centre helps you to understand more about the living world. CEC Delhi was set up in 2005 at Asola Bhatti Wildlife Sanctuary.
The project initiated by Delhi Government was implemented by Bombay Natural History Society in collaboration with Department of Forest and Wildlife, Delhi. The Centre focuses on bringing awareness about preserving nature through nature trails and other conservation oriented activities. CEC - Delhi, BNHS celebrated Butterfly month with children of The Amaryllis at Karol Bagh, as we explored the magical world of butterflies with the little champions! π
π¦ Butterfly talk: A captivating Butterfly Awareness Session started the day. They learned about the importance of butterflies, discovered their fascinating life cycle, and explored the diversity of butterflies found in Delhi NCR, all through engaging visuals and interactive discussions.
ποΈ Coloring and Decoration Competition: Then, the day kicked off with a burst of colors and creativity as the children participated in a fantastic coloring and decoration competition. Their imagination took flight as they adorned butterflies with vibrant hues and artistic designs. π¨
π± Seed Ball Making Activity: After expressing their artistic talents, it was time for some hands-on learning. The children eagerly took part in a seed ball making activity. π±πΈ
πͺ΄ Butterfly Garden Establishment: With the guidance of CEC Delhi, BNHS team, young nature enthusiasts planted a variety of nectar-rich flowers and host plants. This butterfly haven will not only provide a sanctuary for these delicate creatures but also serve as an educational space for future generations to learn about the importance of pollinators. πͺ΄π¦
Together, we are sowing the seeds of awareness and environmental responsibility in children's hearts.

"Fluttering Moments at Deshbandhu College, Delhi University! π¦β¨
CEC - Delhi, BNHS with support of Dept. of Forests & Wildlife, GNCT of Delhi celebrated Big Butterfly Month 2023 at Deshbandhu College, Delhi University.
It was truly magical as we delved into the fascinating world of butterflies and their host plants. πΏπ¦ The day began with an engaging talk and discussion on butterfly and host plant interactions, sparking curiosity and enthusiasm among students and faculty alike.
Then, armed with curiosity, we embarked on a butterfly walk through the campus. πΆββοΈπΆββοΈ We recorded nearly 23 butterfly species right in the college's backyard!

Green Birthday Celebration!!!
A day filled with wonder and warmth as we kicked off Vandana Ji's birthday celebration with a serene lake drive, followed by a magical breakfast amidst butterflies and a delightful butterfly walk. π¦π

But that's not all - we added a touch of green to this special day! Friends and family joined hands in planting seeds of love and life, as we contributed to the environment. π±π³
In the spirit of giving back, we also shared native and butterfly host plants with all our wonderful participants, fostering a deeper connection with nature. πΌπ

CEC - Delhi, BNHS with the support from the Department of Forests and Wildlife, GNCT of Delhi conducted an induction programme for Central Academy for State Forest Service (CASFOS). The trainee officers were acquainted about the sanctuary, nursery management, butterfly & its habitat and various other flora & fauna of the sanctuary. They were also guided about check dams and their importance in the sanctuary.

Citizen Science Day organized for Ericsson employees aimed to raise awareness and sensitize them about the importance of nature. Collaborating with CEC - Delhi, BNHS & Earthwatch Institute India, with the support of the Department of Forests and Wildlife, GNCT of Delhi, the event provided a unique opportunity for employees to connect with nature.
Information about avifauna, butterflies, mammals and conservation of biodiversity were also discussed with participants. They were guided across the Jungle Walk and were enlightened with the importance of the forest of Sanctuary.
During the event, participants were also gained hands-on experience in assessing air and water quality indices. Through interactive and practical demonstrations, employees were educated about the significance of air and water quality testing. The initiative not only empowered the employees with valuable knowledge but also encouraged them to actively engage in citizen science initiatives for environmental preservation.

Today, we were honored to welcome Shri Joginapally Santosh Kumar, esteemed Member of Parliament of India representing Telangana in the Rajya Sabha, on an unforgettable journey through the captivating landscapes of Asola Bhatti Wildlife Sanctuary! π¦π¦ Guided by the expertise of CEC - Delhi, BNHS and the Department of Forests and Wildlife, GNCT of Delhi, the day was brimming with discovery.
From exploring vibrant nurseries teeming with life to strolling amidst fluttering wonders in the butterfly park, the visit was a true celebration of nature's marvels.
The adventure continued with an insightful tour of the sanctuary, where Shri Santosh Kumar engaged in bird watching, a soul-enriching experience as he connected with the diverse avian inhabitants of this sanctuary. The serene Neeli Jheel added a touch of tranquility to the day, offering a moment of peaceful reflection.
