A historic step for inland waterways in Assam!
Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Sri Sarbananda Sonowal laid the foundation stones for four River Lighthouses along the Brahmaputra River at a ceremony held today at Lachit Ghat, Guwahati.
This pioneering initiative marks the first-ever establishment of lighthouse infrastructure on an inland waterway in India, strengthening navigational safety as well as boosting the development of Tourism sector.

केंद्रीय बंदरगाह, पोत परिवहन और जलमार्ग मंत्री सर्बानंद सोनोवाल ने आज गुवाहाटी के लाचित घाट में आयोजित एक कार्यक्रम में ब्रह्मपुत्र नदी के किनारे चार रिवर लाइटहाउस के निर्माण की आधारशिला रखी। भारत में पहली बार किसी अंतर्देशीय जलमार्ग पर यह परियोजना अवसंरचना की स्थापना किया जा रहा है जो नदी मार्गों पर नौवहन सुरक्षा को सुदृढ़ करने के साथ-साथ पर्यटन के क्षेत्र में भी नई गति प्रदान करेगी।
