One Week Faculty Development Program (FDP) on Bioinformatics and Computational Biology was successfully inaugurated on 23rd March 2026 at the New Conference Hall, Department of Life Sciences, Dibrugarh University.

The program was formally inaugurated by Prof. J. Hazarika, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of Dibrugarh University, in the esteemed presence of Deans, senior professors, and distinguished faculty members of the university & senior officials from NIELIT Guwahati.

𝑶𝒓𝒈𝒂𝒏𝒊𝒛𝒆𝒅 𝒃𝒚 𝑵𝑰𝑬𝑳𝑰𝑻 𝑮𝒖𝒘𝒂𝒉𝒂𝒕𝒊 𝒊𝒏 𝒂𝒔𝒔𝒐𝒄𝒊𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑫𝒆𝒑𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝑳𝒊𝒇𝒆 𝑺𝒄𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆𝒔, 𝑫𝒊𝒃𝒓𝒖𝒈𝒂𝒓𝒉 𝑼𝒏𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒊𝒕𝒚, this FDP aims to strengthen academic and research capabilities in cutting-edge areas such as bioinformatics, computational biology, and AI-driven life sciences.
Over the course of the week, participants—including Assistant Professors, Lecturers, and Research Scholars—will engage in hands-on sessions covering sequence analysis, NGS data interpretation, structural biology, and computational drug discovery.

✨ This initiative marks a significant step towards building a robust Bioinformatics Ecosystem in the region by integrating advanced computational tools with biological research.

Strengthening Cyber Resilience 🔐

36 IT Nodal Officers from various departments of the Government of Assam are undergoing a 5-day training on "Advanced Cyber Security Techniques" at Guwahati from 9th of March 2026.

Conducted under the MeitY-supported project “Empowering Police Personnel and Government Officials of North-Eastern States through IT & Cyber Security Training.” , the programme focuses on cyber threat identification, incident response, digital forensics basics, and protection of government digital infrastructure.

An important step towards building a secure digital ecosystem for governance in Assam and the North-East. 💻🛡️

The 1st PRSG Meeting of the MeitY-funded project “Smart Bioinformatics Ecosystem: Leveraging AI and Cloud Technology for Innovation & Capacity Building in Bioinformatics” was successfully held recently at NIELIT Guwahati in hybrid mode.
Chaired by Ms. Tulika Pandey, Scientist ‘G’ & Group Coordinator (HRD), MeitY, the meeting reviewed the progress of the project aimed at training 23,430 candidates pan India and establishing a State-of-the-art Bioinformatics Centre at NIELIT Guwahati in Assam.
The PRSG members appreciated the initiative that marks a significant step toward building an AI-driven bioinformatics ecosystem in the North Eastern Region and beyond.

The Chief Guest, Ms Tulika Pandey, Scientist ‘G’ & Group Coordinator (HRD), MeitY, Government of India, formally released the ISEA Awareness Handbook and ISEA Posters, and launched the Awareness Quiz, reaffirming the national commitment towards cybersecurity awareness and responsible digital practices.
