Glimpses of North East PR Conclave 2023 held in collaboration with Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Regional Govt. Film and Television Institute on 20th and 21st May.
DAY -1
The first day of the 2-day North East Public Relations (NEPR) Conclave took off to a flying start at the Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Regional Government Film and Television Institute (DBHRGFFTI) in their Changsari campus at the outskirts of Guwahati.
The theme for this year’s conclave was Creativity, Sustainability and Public Relations.
The Conclave was inaugurated by Dr. B. Kalyan Chakravarthy, IAS, Principal Secretary, Deptt. of Cultural Affairs, Govt. of Assam in the presence of Dr. Ajit Pathak National President, Public Relations Society of India, Ms. Minakshi Das Nath, ACS, Director of Cultural Affairs, Govt of Assam, Chairperson PRSI Guwahati Chapter, Ms. Madhuchanda Adhikari, and a host of distinguished guests, members of PRSI, faculty and students of DBJRGFTI and various other institutes from Guwahati and Shillong.
Welcoming the guests and participants, Chairperson PRSI Guwahati Chapter put into perspective the theme for the Conclave. Director ( Cultural Affairs), Govt of Assam in her address stressed on the relevance of listening and observation as a tool for good PR. She shared her intention of developing DBJRGFTI to a world class institute. National President PRSI appreciated the win-win collaboration of PRSI Guwahati Chapter with DBHRGFTI and hoped that the meaningful deliberations during the conclave will be enriching for the participants. Chief Guest in his address underscored the importance of good PR sharing anecdotes about how attitude to situations makes a difference in our professional as well as personal journey.
The inaugural session was followed by the first technical session on ‘Promoting Regional Cinema in OTT Platform’ by Dr. Amrita Goswami from a Mumbai film Industry OTT platform where she shared how OTT platforms decide on the contents to be broadcast. She also stressed that viewership from a particular region is the main factor on which the acquisitions and original contents are sourced. Also, a good storyline and how it is narrated greatly influence viewership.
The second technical session was address by Manipur’s National Award Winning filmmaker Haobam Pawan Kumar on ‘Challenges and prospects in a changing environment in Film Making’ where he shared his journey as a film maker and advised the students of filmmaking to focus on their interests and be very sure of their goals. He also shared the various opportunities available in India for new and upcoming filmmakers.
Thereafter, a panel discussion was conducted on ‘Leveraging Technology in Regional Cinema’ with Dr. Amrita Goswami, Haobam Pawan Kumar and by HoD Audiography and Sound, DBJTGFTI Faruk Iqubal.The session was moderated by well known film writer/director from Meghalaya, Dominic Sangma.
DAY -2
The 2nd day of the Conclave was graced by Jadav Payeng, the Forest Man of India. The day began with a tree plantation drive led by him at the DBHRGFTI campus , Thereafter, he enthralled the audience with his life’s journey from childhood when planting trees had become his mission, sharing interesting anecdotes in the session on ‘Promoting sustainability through films’. The session was moderated by noted documentary film maker Sanjib Parashar who has captured the work of Jadav Payeng in an award winning documentary and Surajit Sinha Roy, Joint Secretary, PRSI Guwahati Chapter.
In the subsequent session, noted environment activist Mr. Rituraj Phukan shared his thoughts and perspectives on the theme, ‘ Using sustainable practices film making’ in a session moderated by Ms. Sita Baruah, Secretary, PRSI Guwahati Chapter. Mr. Phukan reflected on how going back to traditional practices and habits could help rebuild the earth.
The valedictory session featured popular film maker and youth icon Kenny Basumatary who shared his experiences as a filmmaker, what drives his passion for film making and slices of life that influence his creative triggers. The session was moderated by Ms. Ruma Chakravarty, Vice Chairman, PRSI Guwahati Chapter

Director of Cultural Affairs, Govt of Assam along with Director in charge of Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Regional Govt Film and TV Institute Ms. Minakshi Das Nath along with Chairperson PRSI Guwahati Chapter Ms. Madhuchanda Adhikari addressed the media and apprised about the ensuing event.

PRSI Guwahati Chapter celebrates National PR Day
Public Relations Society of India, Guwahati Chapter in collaboration with Indian Oil Guwahati Refinery celebrated National PR Day at the Guwahati Refinery L&D Center on 21st April.
Ms Madhuchanda Adhikari, GM (CC), NRL and Chairperson PRSI Guwahati Chapter delivered the welcome address and outlined the objectives of PRSI, the apex body of PR professionals in the country; highlighting the activities of the Guwahati Chapter and put into perspective the theme for this year’s National PR Day, ‘ G20 and Indian Values- PR Perspectives’
Dr Sumeet Jerath, Retired IAS, Former Secretary, Home Affairs and Administrative member of the Guwahati Bench of Central Adminstrative Tribunal (CAT) was the Chief Guest for the program. Mr. SP Singh, Executive Director and Refinery Head, Guwahati Refinery (GR), Mr. Hitajit Bhattacharyya, CGM (HR), Indian Oil Guwahati Refinery, Mr. Ranjan Goswami, CGM (PR), Oil India Ltd, Ms. Anu Mazumdar, VP, East, PRSI, Ms. Sita Baruah, GM (HR), IndianOil Guwahati Refinery and Secretary, PRSI, Guwahati Chapter , other executive committee members of PRSI, Guwahati Chapter, senior officials, and veteran members of PRSI Guwahati Chapter were also present in the program. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Jerath enlightened the august gathering with his encouraging words alongside a power point presentation wherein he threw light on the theme “G20 and Indian Values: Public Relations Perspectives.” He shared about the various experiences of working as a civil servant and how proud he felt to work for a country like India, which is so diversified. He also talked about how India’s role after assuming Presidentship of G20 could be enhanced globally by utilizing the values that the country stands for.
Speaking on the occasion, ED and Refinery Head, IndianOil Guwahati Refinery Mr SP Singh also threw light on the theme of the program and said how value system is important for all of us and how those values and principles should be inculcated in by the generations to come.
The program was anchored by Ms. Sita Baruah, Secretary, PRSI Guwahati Chapter and ended with a vote of thanks by Ms Ruma Chakravorty, Vice Chairperson , PRSI, Guwahati Chapter.

The Annual General Meeting of PRSI Guwahati Chapter was held today i e 10th of December 2022 in the city.
Treasurer presented the audited accounts for FY 2021-22 which was adopted by the house. Chairperson presented the activity report since the last AGM. Members discussed the way forward for the chapter. Hamad Barlashker, a member of the chapter was felicitated for his recent accomplishments in the field of PR. The Meet was followed by lunch.

Public Relations Society of India, Guwahati Chapter celebrated National PR Day on 21st April on the theme, ‘Building Trust – Shaping a new world through PR’ at Hotel Gateway Grandeur in the city with the participation of members.
Chairperson PRSI Guwahati Chapter Ms. Madhuchanda Adhikari welcomed members while underscoring the importance of building trust as a ground rule for effective PR and deliberated on how honesty and openness in communication could create life long win-win relationships.
VP East PRSI Ms. M S Mazumdar reiterated the need for good PR at a time when the world in going through turbulence and building harmonious relationship is the need of the hour.
Shri Uttam Theron, Founder- Director of Parijat Academy was the invited speaker on the occasion. Shri Teron has been doing exemplary work for the underprivileged through his school, ‘ Parijat Academy’, located in Pamohi in the outskirts of the city. He lend his perspective on the theme by sharing real life experiences on how reaching out to people and building trust has helped him in sustaining his efforts to mainstream underprivileged children through education and the overwhelming support that he has received worldwide in this journey.
