📢 OFFICIAL UPDATE: STRICT ENFORCEMENT AGAINST ILLEGAL SALE OF MTP KITS

The State Drug Control Administration remains committed to ensuring public health safety and the strict enforcement of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act.

In a swift response to an ongoing investigation registered at the Borgang Police Station regarding the illegal sale of an MTP (Medical Termination of Pregnancy) kit to a minor girl by a pharmacy located in Kettela, Biswanath District, immediate regulatory action was taken.

On 31st May, 2026 (Sunday), Smt. Minakshi H**e, Inspector of Drugs, Biswanat, joined forces with and assisted police personnel to conduct a thorough investigation on-site. Further legal proceedings against the violating establishment are actively underway.

⚠️ IMPORTANT WARNING TO ALL PHARMACIES & RETAILERS
The State Drug Control Administration issues a stern warning to all licensed premises:
Prescription-Only Medicine:MTP kits are Schedule H drugs and can only be sold against a valid prescription from a Registered Medical Practitioner (RMP).

Zero Tolerance for OTC Sales: Selling MTP kits over-the-counter (OTC) without a prescription—especially to minors—is a severe, punishable offense. Non-compliance puts lives at risk and constitutes a gross violation of the law.

Strict punitive action, including the immediate cancellation of drug licenses and criminal prosecution under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, will be initiated against any pharmacy found stocking or selling these kits illegally.

We urge the public to report any such illegal activities to the nearest Drug Control Office.

Before applying for or renewing a wholesale drug license (Forms 20B/21B) on the National Drugs Licensing System (ONDLS) portal (fresh application or renewal), person incharge must now first register your designated technical/competent person on the Assam Ease of Doing Business (EODB) portal. This is a critical prerequisite to get a "Certificate of Competency" needed to complete the whole application process.

Crackdown on Illegal Pharmacy Operations in Hailakandi 📢

​Taking swift action against regulatory non-compliance, Shri Manash Pratim Burhagohain, the Inspector of Drugs, Hailakandi, along with the Executive Magistrate, successfully inspected and shut down two premises in Hailakandi district on 21/05/2026.
​The joint team detected that both establishments were operating under invalid drug licenses. Furthermore, a single person-in-charge was found illegally running both separate premises. The administration has halted all operations at these sites to safeguard consumer interests.

Strict Action in Sonitpur: Sale of Unverified Drugs Halted 🛑📄

Ensuring public safety is our highest priority. Acting on lack of proper documentation, Mrs. Neha Agarwal Saikia, Inspector of Drugs, Sonitpur, has issued a Form 15 Stop-Sale order for 53 types of drugs valued at roughly ₹1.2 Lakh found at a clinic in Sonitpur.

Because the authenticity of the stock could not be verified on the spot, the clinic is currently under investigation. Failure to produce legal purchase records will lead to immediate formal seizure and further prosecution under the law.

অভিযানকালত ক্লিনিকখনত থকা প্ৰায় ১.২ লাখ টকা মূল্যৰ ৫৩ বিধ ঔষধৰ বৈধতা থিতাতে প্ৰমাণ কৰিব নোৱাৰাৰ বাবে 'ফৰ্ম ১৫' (Form 15) ৰ অধীনত সেইসমূহৰ বিক্ৰী সাময়িকভাৱে বন্ধ কৰাৰ নিৰ্দেশ দিয়া হয়।

In a continuous effort to ensure public health safety and eradicate the menace of illegal drug trafficking, the Drugs Control Administration, Assam, in collaboration with the Fatashil Ambari Police, executed a massive joint raid today (21/05/2026).
The operation was conducted at a targeted premises in Ganeshpara, Fatashil Ambari, Guwahati.

A major haul of habit-forming, prescription-only contraband (valued at ₹78,117/-) was intercepted and immediately handed over to the police for criminal prosecution under the NDPS Act:
*Codeine-based Cough Syrups: 298 Bottles
*Ultacet Tablets (Tramadol Op**te): 49 Strips (735 Tablets)

​The State Drug Control Administration continues its zero-tolerance policy against unlicensed pharmaceutical operations.

​Following a specific complaint, the Inspector of Drugs, Lakhimpur, conducted a targeted inspection at an illegal medicine outlet in 1 No. Orangbasti.

​The Violator: Abdul Kasem (Proprietor)

​The Action: Seizure of medicines worth approx. ₹6,000 which were being stored and sold without any legal drug license.

​The Outcome: The premises has been officially shut down and placed under lock and key.
