Youth-Led Awareness Campaign against Substance Abuse through Pamphlet Distribution

Date: 1 November 2026

Programme

Under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Campaign, the National Service Scheme (NSS), MY Bharat volunteers of Balagarh Bijoy Krishna Mahavidyalaya conducted a youth-led awareness campaign against substance abuse on 1 November 2026. As the college was observing the Puja vacation, the volunteers did not organise the Sunday programme collectively on the college premises. Instead, they were assigned the responsibility of conducting anti-substance abuse awareness activities individually in their respective neighbourhoods, reaching out to their friends and neighbours to communicate the harmful consequences of substance abuse and promote the message of a healthy, responsible and drug-free society.

Objective

The principal objective of the programme was to sensitise local communities, particularly young people, to the physical, psychological, educational, social and familial consequences of substance abuse. The initiative also aimed to encourage informed and healthy lifestyle choices, prevent addiction, promote peer awareness and strengthen community participation in the collective effort to build a drug-free society.

Programme Activities

In view of the ongoing Puja vacation, the NSS, MY Bharat volunteers were entrusted with the responsibility of carrying out the Sunday awareness activity individually in their respective localities rather than assembling for a collective programme at the college. Each volunteer was encouraged to reach out to friends and neighbours and undertake anti-substance abuse awareness activities within their immediate social circles. They distributed specially prepared awareness pamphlets among local residents to highlight the harmful effects of intoxicating substances and emphasise the importance of remaining free from addiction.
