WBSPMG has successfully commissioned the Sewage Treatment Plant at Maheshtala, South 24 Parganas on 5th of June, 2025. The plant will treat 35 MLD Sewage of Maheshtala & surrounding areas.This will further help in improving the Water Quality of River Ganga.

Two STPs, one at Sreenathpur of capacity 4 MLD and another at Silver Jubilee Road of capacity 2.6 MLD in RanaghatMunicipal Town have been put under Trial Run. Program Director, WBSPMG visited both the sites along with officials of WBSPMG, KMDA and Municipality on 19th July 2024 and commissioned both the STPs. 6 Outfalls carrying Sewer water of the town discharging into river Churni have been intercepted in these 2 STPs. The Waste Water generated from 9 wards of the town is getting treated in these two STPs.
These two fully operational STPs would further better the Water Quality of river Churniand thereby river Ganga.

Program Director, WBSPMG along with the officials of WBSPMG, KMDA and the municipality visited Chakdah STP site (15 MLD-SBR Technology) on 19.07.2024 and a meeting was held to review the progress of the project at the site office with the agency. Overall progress as on June 2024 is 5%. Time line for completion of the project is December 2025 (including Trial Run). As of now the progress is satisfactory

Two-day residential training program (26-27 June, 2023), regarding “Managing Urban Rivers: from Planning to Practice” was organized by the National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG), Ministry of Jal Shakti & National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA), Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs, Government of India along with the Urban Development and Municipal Affairs Department, Government of West Bengal, at the Netaji Subhas Administrative Training Institute (NSATI), Kolkata, West Bengal.

Nandini Ghosh, Program Director, State Program NGRBA Management Group of West Bengal delivered the Special Address to the participants, emphasizing the need for River centric development for economic & social growth along with the expectations of each ULBs and requested participants to maximize their knowledge on River Centric Urban Development.
